Hi I'm Chad

I was born with Spina Bifida. I like Outdoor sports, like Hiking and Kayaking. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born with a birth defect of the Spine, called Spina Bifida. This caused me to have limited mobility in my legs. I wear Ankle Braces to help give added stability, and support to them. I have not let this stop me from achieving what I want in life. I have climbed Half Dome, and attempted to climb Mt. Whitney. I have also Kayaked from Central California to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Why I am a Mormon

I' am a member of the church because I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we all can find comfort from all we may be struggling through. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and it contains the fulness of his gospel, as well as the Bible. I know that Joseph Smith was chosen by God to be a prophet, and was called to restore the Gospel on the earth. i know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, that receives revelation from God to lead and guides us, so we can find happiness in this life if we choose to live by them.

How I live my faith

I serve as a missionary for the church. I teach people who are interested in learning more about the gospel. I love this opportunity to serve, I get to meet a lot of great people, as well as watch thier lives change as they gain a testimony of Jesus Christ!

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

In 1 Peter chapter 3 it says Jesus "... went and preached unto the spirits in prison 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." we believe that every soul will have the opportunity to hear the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We preform baptisms for the dead so that people who have past on can have the opportunity to recieve eternal life, if they did not have the opportunity to hear the Gospel here on earth. in chapter 4 of 1 James it says "For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit" verse 6.  Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

We needed a way that we could be washed clean from the mistakes we make on earth. In the Book of Mormon we read that this Atonement needed to be an eternal atonement, the only person who could do that was Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We need the Atonement so we can repent of our sins and become clean. The Book of Mormon gives great insight on the Atonement, "And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance" Alma 34. In the Garden of Gethsemane Christ took upon him the sins of the world, as well as every pain, sorrow, and every aliment that we will experience on earth. Why would Christ have to do this? The Book of Mormon explains so exquisitely why this needed to be, "And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy... that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities...that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance..." Alma 7. Show more Show less
