Hi I'm Miguel

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only true path to happiness.

About Me

I am a graduate student studying Counseling. I am recently married to a wonderful woman and do not yet have children. I am fascinated by nature and love to watch documentaries. I also thoroughly enjoy reading, playing guitar and writing songs.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Catholic, but never felt the urge to seek deeper meaning or understanding of my faith. Then, when I was 21, I began to think deeply about life and why people live and die. I just wanted to know what exactly is going on in this world. I began to read whatever material I could get my hands on that purported to teach the true meaning of existence and how we got here, but everything just confused me. Eventually, I started reading the Bible and came to a sure knowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, my Savior and redeemer. I felt the need to share this knowledge, but didn't know how. So, I began to associate with people who believed, though I had no desire to join a church. One day as I was lost downtown searching for a gathering I had planned on attending, I saw two young men in white shirts and ties standing on the street talking to people. I knew they were talking about religion and after I had passed them I felt an irresistible urge to turn back around and talk to them. I followed my impression and had a lengthy conversation with them. I was struck by how intently they listened to me and how they did not judge my beliefs. They then told me about the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ through the prophet Joseph Smith. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first, but as they explained the need for a living prophet and handed me a copy of the Book of Mormon, which they described as a second witness to Jesus Christ, I could not deny the the light that filled my mind and soul. It all made sense! From that moment I knew I wanted to serve a mission for the church and was baptized shortly thereafter. I did serve a mission two years later and have found a deep peace in the restored gospel that I have found nowhere else. I love the gospel, I love the Savior, and I am thankful for the truth that God gave to an honest seeker- me. I know that this church is true and I know that anyone who sincerely desires to know the same can receive a witness by the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

The gospel is a daily commitment and I strive to keep the commandments of God in all I do. This is the best way to find peace and the Lord greatly rewards the faithful. To live the gospel means to serve. Even the smallest act of kindness is greater than the most precious gem in the sight of God. So I try o be aware of the needs of those around me so I can help in any little way possible. The gospel is a wonderful blessing in my marriage. It helps me to be humble and understanding. Daily prayer and scriptyre study with my wife, Lindsey, draw us closer together. Currently, I am focusing on being thankful for all things, even the the challenges and hardships of life, which seem to be surfacing quite frequently. I have learned that if I put my trust in the Lord, things always turn out for the better. The key is to do all you can to succeed in your daily life in a manner pleasing to God. Whatever you may still lack, the Lord will make up for.
