Hi I'm Martha

Our family migrated to the United States in 1968. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Our family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1973. I returned to the church 11 years ago. I had felt for a long time since being away from the church for 14 years an emptiness and came home. I love to read the Book of Mormon every year because through the scriptures you'll find all the answers to your daily choices and remind me how much I still have to learn and give. I love to ski, keep a tidy house hard to do with kids, cook, power walk, dance, being around family seeing them all grow day by day and play the Wii - Dance. I have a Bachelors of Scinece degree in Telecommunications Management which was a balancing act with both being a full-time job and school. Looking back now I know it was the drive to complete a goal though how difficult it was just kept my eyes on the diploma. I have been working for the same company for 29 1/2 years. For the last 11 years I have raised my sisters five children. There was never a second thought in raising these precious children, but with the help of my mom we opened our home to them.

Why I am a Mormon

When I joined the church I became a Mormon based upon my parents testimony. When I returned back to the church I wanted to know the real feeling within me that I had seen so many brothers and sisters felt as they entered the waters of baptism. As I was reading the Book of Mormon waiting for my mom and grandmother Belen to come out of a temple session, I felt the spirt in the chapters of Alma speak out to me with tears in my eyes I knew the church was true. I am Mormon because I know our Heavenly Father lives, his son Jesus Christ died for our sins and the Holy Ghost is our comforter and protector. I believe that families our forever and that we all will meet again.

How I live my faith

I live by example not just in the three hours on Sunday, but every day. We are a giving, loving, Christian and serviceable people. Since returning to the church I have had callings working with the youth 12 to 18 year olds and their mothers. I love the visiting teaching program which all women from the ages of 18 and on can participate. It's such a joy in sharing a message, helping out when a sister is sick or when there has been death.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Martha
Yes, the beauty of it is knowing that your partner that you love so much will be with you for all eternity along with the children you bring into this life. What a blessing that is, but it's not a slam dunk because as a couple and family you work together to be able to obtain those promises you made the day you were sealed for time and all eternity. A day or rechoicing for making that big step a day that you will never forget and remember. Show more Show less
