Hi I'm Agustin Alcantara

Born and raised in Houston Texas. I love my family. I love playing sports and having fun. IPM is where to be.

About Me

I was born and rasied in Houston Texas. I am currently serving a mission in the Idaho Pocatello Mission. I love to play sports. Since i was a kid i was never the type of person to sit on the sideline and watch people have fun. i was the type of kid that wanted to play and win. I love to have comapany, i get really bored and impatient when i am alone unless i'm reading. I love reading the Scriptures, especially The Book of Mormon. I love my family so much. It is a powerful source of love, compassion and comfort. I truly believe that The Family is central to God's plan to obtain happiness. This blessing is not a temporal blessing. Through keeping The Commandements and participating in the sacred ordinances of salvation, we may know of a surety that this blessing can be Eternal.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the wonderful privilage to be born in this gospel. I grew up most of the time going trough the motions. I had excellent leaders and friends that encouraged me to do what is right. My parents did there very best to teach me truth and be an example for me. There came a time when I was very uplifted. I was learning and most importantly applying what I had learned in my life. I love helping people, even in the most simple ways. I decided to do it full time, as missionary. The Spirit is what keeps me on the right path, regardless of the peer pressure and the opposition we receive in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making an effort to be like Jesus Christ. Chirst was perfect, and it may seem as if nobody can be like him and be perfect as he was. We must still make an effort(3 Nefi 12:48). When Jesus Chirst was in Jerusalem, he showed his love to everyone. I strive to be like him. It seems difficult at times, but the lord does not give commandments to his children that they cannot keep(1 Nefi 3:7). I always try to be kind and generous with everyone and anyone. I read the scriptures as much as i can. If one seeks to have more wisdom and knowledge, they must read the scriptures. They are written by Prophets that had that direct communication with Heavanly Father.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Agustin Alcantara
A Testimoy is earned by a manifestation of power. It is not always earned by seeing miracles. The Holy Ghost will testify to someone about the truthfulness of God and Jesus Chirst and his Gospel. When you have a testimony of something, you may not always explain clearly of how you came to know of the truth, but nonetheless you know it. You may have a testimony of God the Eternal Father and the love he has for you, or of Jesus Chirst being your Savior and Reedemer, or about Joseph Smith being a Prophet of God, or about The Book of Mormon being another testament of Jesus Chist. It's a never ending list of the things you can have a testimony of. Through prayer and faith we can earn a testimony of our own. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Agustin Alcantara
When Jesus Chirst was in Jerusalem, he established his Gospel(church). It was the straight and narrow path to salvation. He left his commandents to keep, and he left on earth the Authority of God(Priesthood) to do his desciples(apostles). After his crucifiction, the desciples that he left on earth with the Priesthood were also hunted down and killed. so the Authority of God was no longer on the earth. People tried to organize their own idea of what the true church is, but they had no inspiration or revelation of God. There had to be someone with the Authority of God to Restore the Church that Jesus Christ established here on earth(Acts 3:19-20). That way we may have that same privilage to have that same straight and narrow path to salvation. I testify that Joseph Smith did in fact see both Heavanly Father and Jesus Christ. That only by Christ can we be saved. The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. They are both one, The Bible and The Book of Mormon. They testify of eachother. The Book of Mormon was written from record of the colonization of the Americas long before any explorers came to discover it. There were Prophets who were called of God that preached the same gospel of Jesus Christ. Heavanly Father is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Therefore he had to give Prophets in the Americas. It's my testimony that The Book of Mormon is true. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Agustin Alcantara
When Jesus Crist was on the earth, he organized his own church. After his crucifiction, all of his disciples and leaders of his church were also killed. Priesthood Keys were lost, therefore the church was also lost. Many people had desires to follow the follow Jesus Christ and his teachings and gospel, however the Priesthood keys were no longer on the earth. Joseph Smith simply restored the same church and gospel of Jesus Christ. He received Priesthood Keys, which later led to the organization of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
