Hi I'm Colby

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always been interested in being physically active. I grew mainly playing basketball because I am 6' 7" but I also enjoy playing golf, frisbee, football, and going backpacking. I graduated from high school in 2008 and started college in 2008-2009 where I defered my education for 2 years so I could serve a full time mission.. I love music, especially jazz and music that makes you think. My biggest and favorite hobby is snowboarding. I picked it up when I went to college and fell in love with the sport. My parents have always been there for me and have always helped me in my rough times. I have only one sister and we always were together. I have friends but my true happiness and the best memories come from spending time with the fam.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and have always loved going. I never felt like it was boring or that people just judged me. It was a place for some to socialize but for me, I loved the classes where I could ask questions and get feedback from other members and from the scriputres. I loved the church but I wanted to study out the scriptures more and even study other faiths. I have always been interested in learning about other religions. I would converse with my friends about their beliefs and study on the internet and other materials about the beliefs of everyone. However, it wasn't until I read the Book of Mormon for the 1st time and actually prayed about it, that I decided this was where I should stay. I realized afterwards of the magnitude of that decision later on as learned to repent and follow the Savior more in my life and how it would shape me into a better man. I realized that the simple instructions our Savior gave us where found in this church and the scriptures that they studied. The greatest thing I love about this church, is that all though it is organized because God is a God of order, that it is a very personal walk to connect with our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I was a junior scoutmaster for the youth and would help them get merit badges and assist in camp outs. I loved it because being in the outdoors has always been a favorite past time of mine, and at the same time I could be an example to young kids who were about to go through high school and avoid the temptations of the world. I learned just as much as the kids did I think, if not more. Right now I serve as a missionary which basically means we go out and teach people about God. It can be rather difficult because not everyone is too keen on learning about our Savior, but those that I have met and have helped to follow Christ has brought me more joy in my life than ever before.
