Hi I'm John

I'm from Canada, I'm a Missionary, a Computer Programmer and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm currently serving a 2 year proselyting mission in Fresno, California. I have found that I feel at home wherever I live, which has made travelling really easy! I love to meet new people, play sports, play board games, and work with computers. Before I became a missionary I was working for a software company near Toronto, Canada. I completed 2 years of college studying computer programming and I love ever minute of it! I love music of all kinds food of all kinds, and I love trying new things. I believe that if somebody else likes it, I can probably grow to like it too (in regards to music, movies, and food) I play table-top war games, card games, Scrabble, video games (Wii) I love reading scriptures, and fiction. I really love biking, which is something I've learned to love while I've been in California.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I'm a Mormon starts with my parents. Both of my parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when they were in their 20's. They both served 18 month missions for the church and later got married and had me and my 2 sisters. As I grew up I began to question why I went to church and whether I believed the things my parents taught me. I knew they loved me and wanted the best for me, and so I trusted them. I began to test my faith, through living what I knew to be true and praying about it. I have had many spiritual witnesses that the teaching of this church are true, and many more witnesses that it is divinely guided, and for that reason I have remained a member of this church. I know that prayer really works! I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that living the commandments always brings blessings and a confirmation that God is really there and communicates with us. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

At this time I'm serving as District Leader to Missionaries in part of the Fresno Mission in California. I call missionaries and encourage them to set goals to improve and moniter the progress of the preaching of the gospel in each of the missionaries areas. We hold regular District meetings in which I prepare training for a group of 10 missionaries. This role is temporary, and as a missionary I've served in a variety of roles to help serve other missionaries and people in the area. I participate in community service, planned and unplanned. I also go around teaching people about our faith, to anyone who wants to listen. Usually this involved some cold contact, through talking to people at their door or on the street, and also through the friends of members of the church.
