Hi I'm Dillon

I'm a surfer, a musician, I bowl, I'm blind, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Lets see, I have six sisters, and one brother. I love to do anything that involves the water. I love to surf, free dive, wake board, just swim. I am pretty much like a fish. I have been a member my whole life, and am from Beaverton Oregon. I am planning on being a musician, I play the trombone.hmmm, I love my family and would do anything for them. Haha I do not really know what else to say! K bye.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have seen how living the standards that we are taught blesses our lives. I have seen both aspects, with half of my family being active in the church and the other half not. I know that the book of Mormon is true and that is you live by its teachings that it will bring you and your family closer together. I know that it will make you a happier person. I have seen myself grow and be comforted about the whole being blind thing. I know that after this life I will never have to live with that again, and that I will be spending the rest of the eternities with my family. I know this church is true, and I know this by the power of the holy ghost. I know you can gain that witness too, and that is why i am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

right now I am living my faith by leaving my home for two years and teaching people about my beliefs so that they can feel the joy and peace that I do. I live my faith through serving others. I live my faith by enjoying nature and all there is that god has given us. I live my faith through being an example to my siblings. I live my faith by just trying to help others.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

Dillon
This was a big question for me. my whole life i have had a Macular degenerative disease called choroideremia. Basically it is really rare and I am going blind to make a long story short. I cannot see in the dark so i have never seen any stars. I used to play baseball, and soccer and fence, i was kind of a do whatever sport i want kind of guy, but my eyes have gotten worse and worse so now i cannot track the balls with them. That ruined my being any good at sports. Now the only sports i can still semi do are surfing and bowling. It has been a huge comfort and a blessing to know that we believe that after this life we will be resurrected, and that our bodies will be perfected. This means without pain or sickness. This definitely includes my bad eyes. We believe that after that, if we have done everything we are supposed to, we can live with our families forever. So I know that even though I may not get to see my kids my whole life here on earth, but i will get to see them after this life for the rest of forever. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Dillon
We have twelve apostles in our church because we believe that our church is the same church that Christ organized when he was on the earth. It is the church described in Ephesians chapter 411 “And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” It is never said that the apostles in the time of Christ were not to be replaced. They were just killed off before new apostles could be called, and given the authority spoken of in Mathew 101 “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” Knowing that this same authority was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith has been a great blessing to me in my life. Knowing that we have a modern day prophet and twelve apostles today gives me the direction and guidance that I need to make the right choice in this time of much confusion. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Dillon
Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. This song really shows me how we can come to know our Heavenly Father. As we show gratitude we will come to see how he has helped us and it will show us how he loves us. Another way we can come to know Heavenly Father is through sincere prayer. What i mean by this is to have faith that you will receive an answer. God is our Heavenly father, he wants to hear from us, and Ipromise you that he does answer prayer. Even if it takes a while or it is not the answer that we wanted... Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Dillon
Hmmm, well I guess you could call it secret? Haha it is a secret that we want everyone to know! It is just something that we hold very sacred to us. In the temple we make promises with god, and he makes promises with us. These two way promises are called covenants. There are two main reasons in my opinion why we do not talk about stuff that happens in there. The first reason is simply that we made a promise not to when we went in. The second reason is that lots of people are not ready to hear about it. A lot of people would think that it is weird simply because they do not understand it. It would be like taking the meat before the milk. But ya, the original question was why are only some mormons allowed in? They just have not prepared themselves sufficiently spiritually to go. It is almost like if you went and tried to run a marathon without ever training for it. It is not saying you should never run a marathon, but that you are just not ready to at that moment. I know that what happens in those temples may seem very secretive, but I also know that there are things done in there that can be beneficial to everyone. i have a very deep respect for the temple and love the feelings that I have when I attend.
