Hi I'm Jared

I'm a Mormon serving the Lord in Chicago.

About Me

Right now I'm a missionary serving in Chicago speaking Spanish and loving every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church but I choose to stay in the church because of the testimony I have the Joseph Smith was called of God to re-establish the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving the Lord and others. I live my faith by following the Prophets council. I live my faith through the decisions I make, little and big. I live my faith by always trusting in the Lord.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

We believe that in order to be saved we need to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ and be baptized, this is a universal law. God has prepared a way so that everyone will have the chance to do so. We perform proxy baptisms to give the chance to others who have passed away to be baptized and accept Christ as their savior. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we believe that he was called as a prophet by God to restore the truth. We worship God the Eternal Father and his Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God to restore the true church of Jesus Christ in these last days (hence the name: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). We believe that the authority to act in God's name was lost after the death of the Jesus Christ and his apostles. In order to do anything in God's name it needs to be authorized by him. We believe that he was chosen personally by God to bring the truth back to the world. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is the beginning of everything. Its hope or trust in something that we don't know for sure. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we believe that faith leads us to act according to our beliefs. We show our faith through our actions, thoughts, and how we live. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Jesus Christ is our savior because he has paid the price for all of our sins. When he suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and died on the cross he suffered all of our pains, afflictions, sorrows and sins so that we might return and live with Him after this life. We cannot be in his presence if we are not clean. If we live and follow his commandments he has promised us that he will forgive us and make us clean once again. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

When the Holy Ghost helps us to feel and know that something is true we gain a testimony of the thing he is testifying of. For example, we can read and ponder about the Book of Mormon and understand what it it but we only gain a testimony through the witness of the Holy Ghost. When we pray to our Heavenly Father with a real desire to know he will tell us if it is true or not through the power of the Holy Ghost. We recognize the Holy Ghost through our thoughts, feelings and impressions. I personally feel it like a warmth inside of me and a moment of clear understanding. Show more Show less
