About Me

I live in Florida during the winter it is my home during the summer months I go with my husband to Ft. Madison Iowa. I have three children My oldest son has two young daughters. My second son recently married. My daughter has a daughter I love painting right now I paint shoes for myself because I love unusual shoes. So I decided to make my own. I have shops on the internet where I sell vintage and homemade items

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. My mother taught me about prayer and that I have a Father in heaven who loves me unconditionally. I had to watch two babies that I loved more than life die from a genetic sydrome. It nearly killed me physically and mentally I have never felt any physical pain as intense as the pain of losing a loved one. I spent hours praying to my Heavenly Father. Stubbornly I tried to carry the pain and burdens by myself. After becoming a widow at the age of 39 I was so tired I relied on Jesus Christ to give me the strengh to help me raise my three children.

How I live my faith

I have the peace to know that life on earth, isnt all there is . I try to treat everyone with the love and respect as my sisters and brothers. I try to be honest in all my dealings including work. I have problems children not living what has been taught, lost job low on money bills to pay I take these to the Lord. I know that when I pay my tithing that we always have the money to pay for our needs. I have taught primary since the age of 12 I love teaching children. I started with 2 year olds have moved through the years and now teach 10 to 12 year olds

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

petra
I miss my daughter , son and husband who have died. The pain is always there, I have learned to live with it knowing that one day I will be able to be with them again. That knowledge has kept me here on earth. I cant imagine what life would be like without the knowing that one day we will be a family again. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

petra
my daughter died 1984 my son died 1987 that year I wanted to die the pain was to much I planned my death. But the anchor I held onto was my two living sons and the knowledge that I was the only one who would teach them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I needed them to learn to endure through sorrow and feel the love of their Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I survived each day by prayer, the Lord has given me personal miracles to lift me up. Until one day I could feel peace and joy again. It is still painful and days when I get tired of living. But blessed are they who are faithful and endure whether in life or in death for they shall inherit eternal life. D & C 50:5 Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

petra
I never understood why the church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints has been called a cult. Cult in my definition is a group that takes away individual thought and freedom of choice. From age 8 when you have the choice to be baptized the choice to support and sustain church leaders. We are taught from 3 on up that we are a choice in the pre existence and that has continued on earth. We are given guidelines to follow which is our choice. I have lived in a number of states and overseas if I walk down the street go shopping I would not be seen as a member. Not until my actions of word of wisdom or realization that I dress modestly. I do like to wear jeans and a t-shirt and shorts that cover my knees it is hot in Florida. Show more Show less
