Hi I'm Chris

I'm from Trinidad.I was the only Baptized member of my Family. But that's changed. I"m a Mormon

About Me

I'm a father of one. I have a loving wife and a wonderful daughter.I Love playing basketball, although I'm slowly being brought to the realization that I"m not as young as I use to be. I into poetry and I write sometimes. I"m an an outdoors kind of person, I"m always amazed at Gods creations

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion started a long time before I actually made the dissision to join the church. I've been a member for 10 years now.My schoolmate Vic and I have been best friend for 15 years and he was and still is a member of the church and he'd always invite me to seminary or an activity. I'd go, but only to play basketball. When it came time to hear anything about the gospel, I wasn't interested. About 11 years ago my older sister was introduced to the missionaries at her work place. Apparently they were teaching lessons and handing out Book of Mormons to everyone the talk too. So they left one with her and she brought it home. She'd often encourage me to read it, but once again, I had no interest for that. About a year after, I came home one Sunday from work, bored and with nothing to do. I saw the Book of Mormon laying on the table. I thought I'd give a read and see what this book is all about. I read the introduction, the testimony of the witnesses and also the testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. After I was done, I couldn't remember if I had read the words that were replaying in my mind. "Pray to know if what you are reading is true". The feeling that came along with those thought was one, that up to this day I cannot explain. So there i was, not much of a praying person at the time, but nevertheless, on my knees on my front stairs in the blistering sun...praying. After I was done, the feeling remained with me. I didn't know what it meant. I told my mother and father what happened and they couldn't explain to my what those feelings were or where they came from. I then decided to call my best friend Vic and explained to him what happened. He gave me a couple of scriptures to read. One of which I remember still to this day is Galatians 522...."But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith" And it was then I knew that those feelings came from the Spirit of God and that it was my Heavenly Fathers' way of telling me that the Book I read, The Book of Mormon, was sent by him, and that it is true. In the days the followed, we talked more about it and he then introduced me to the missionaries. Well in about 3 months I was baptised and confimed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Even though the Spiritual experience I had when reading the Book of Mormon was enough. What really strengthened my testimony was when I was taught about the Temple and the work that is done there. For my sister passed away just three months after she brought the Book of Mormon home, And the day I read the Book of Mormon, was almost an exact year from the day she brought it home. I was able to have work done for her. I know this Gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I Love working with the youth. I think it's because I had a Branch President that focused a lot on us as youth and helped us go off and serve missions.
