Hi I'm Tyler Sanders

I grew up in Orem, Utah. I just finished serving a mission in the New Jersey Morristown Mission. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I just returned from serving in the New Jersey Morristown Mission. I am a student at UVU and am a Pre-med major with a Spanish minor. I also go to BYU for AFROTC. I want to become an officer in the U.S. Airforce. I am an EMT-Basic and working on getting my Paramedic. I also want to get into firefighting and search and rescue. I love sports of all kinds. I was on my high school ballroom dance team. I enjoy playing and doing lacrosse, football, taekwondo, running, snowboarding, and swimming. The out doors is my favorite place to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents are Mormon so I have grown up in the Church. But just because of our parents doesn't mean we have to be the same faith. Why I really am a Mormon is because I had to find out for myself if this church is true. Things happened in my life that made me start to question the church. My friends and my seminary teacher in high school helped me start to read the Book of Mormon and to get my life back in order. There is a promise in the Book of Mormon that says if you read the book, ponder it and then ask if it is true you will know. So I did just that and prayed to know if it is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that this church is true. The Book of Mormon has changed my life and I am a happier person. I am on a mission so I can share this with others.

How I live my faith

I just was a missionary for the church. I love being able to share with others what I know to be true and serve them. Before my mission I did what is called hometeaching and would go at least once a month to a few families in the ward and share a message and see how they are doing and if they need help with anything. I also was able to work with the Young Men in the ward that are 16-18 years of age. Every Sunday I go to a young single adult ward where I am able to learn and make new friends.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Tyler Sanders
No, not all Mormons are required to serve missions. Our church leaders, those past and present, have taught that the Lord commands only the young men of the church to serve. Woman can serve if they choose to, but are not required. I am serving a mission right now and it has been a great experience to be able to see the change that the gospel brings into peoples lives. I know that I have been called by God to serve and it's a commandment for me to and I wouln't give up serving for anything. Show more Show less
