Hi I'm little john

I'm british but grew up in France and Switzerland. I'm divorced and have two boys, living away with their mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the north of England but as soon as I was one, I had moved to Geneva, Switzerland where I grew up in swiss and french schools. Computers have always fascinated me and I remember when my father came back from work and told us about this new technology called the World Wide Web as it was fashionable in those days to call it instead of simply the "web". I studied IT back in the United Kingdom and became a web developer soon after, but only after I served a mission in Finland. As I graduated, I met my ex-wife. We were married for ten years and have two little but mischieviously funny boys.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are mormons, my dad being a convert. There comes a time in everyone's life where they think about what they believe in and why they are doing what they are doing. When my time came, I asked my dad why was it that he converted was it because my mother was a member, did it start from there? I found that he was asking the questions of life at the time when he knew my mother and was intrigued as she had all the answers. He then investigated the church and converted. I often pondered for myself why the Church is so important to me and in dark and trying times, the same thing comes it's in the Gospel I find all the answers and get the comfort I need. A peaceful feeling always follows whenever an answer to deep questions comes along and I know that this is the true gospel restored in the latter days.

How I live my faith

I go to church each week and enjoy the lessons there. Every day, I make it a special point to pray about my two boys and ask Heavenly Father to protect them and help them.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

little john
It took me time and pondering as a youth to fully understand who chooses the Mormon prophet. When the current prophet dies, the Presidency of the church goes to the Quorum of Apostles. After a while, the most senior apostle is sustained by the other apostles to become the prophet and president of the church. At times, this interval has been longer although nowadays this occurs fairly rapidly. The true principle however is that apostles like other leaders, teachers and any other member in the church are called by revelation and inspiration from Jesus. When an Apostle passes away, a new one is called after much prayer and revelation. An Apostle is called as a prophet, seer and revelator this is when the prophets are truly called in the church. Whether he lives to be the most senior and become the President of the Church is according to the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord who knows all. Show more Show less
