Hi I'm Jason

I love sports, cereal, and a good trip on a jet-ski. I am a husband, a son, and a brother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I wish I had some cool invention or discovery I could brag about in this section. But the fact is, I don't. I am the average college student, with some really neat experiences that have made me who I am today. When I was little, I was diagnosed with Perthes disease in my right hip. With that diagnosis I was no longer able to do all the sports I wanted to (I was sure I was going to be a football star... Okay so maybe not, but I wanted to try). To this day I am limited in what I can do, and that's helped me to stay humble, to realize that God has a bigger plan for me. I joined the Church at 16 (which I could write about forever, so if you're interested let me know and I'll share more) and when the time came served a mission in the Texas Houston East Mission. It was there, like most missionaries, that I really came to know Christ. Those two years changed my life and put me on the course I wanted to meet my goals. After my mission my cousin introduced me to her friend and roommate Halie, and well, you can guess what happened next; I fell in love. Halie is from a small-town. I fell in love with her passion for all-things-London, and her love of a good chocolate ice cream John Wayne kind of date night. Through it all, I found my own passions of camping, jet-skiing, sports of any kind, and a good wrestle with dad and my brothers. I don't have it all figured out yet, but I know that life will only get sweeter as I stay close to the Lord and trust in His plan.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. It helps me become a better person, a person I never saw in myself. It gives me hope for a brighter future, and a greater love for my family. I joined the church when I was sixteen. I didn't understand everything that the Church taught, nor did I see myself ever becoming a missionary like the ones that taught me. But I felt that it was true. I felt that what they had taught was true. And as I prayed, those feelings were confirmed. I am a Mormon because I feel it's what the Lord wants me to do, and I love to see who I have become in doing that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by continually striving to do a little better each day. I love to realize my weaknesses and work on them. I don't know everything, and I am far from perfect. But I know where to find those answers. I help others do the same right now. As a missionary, I am serving the Spanish speakers in Houston, and I have met someone from almost every Spanish-speaking country in the Americas. I share with them those same things where and how they can find answers to questions of life and how they can become what God wants them to be.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Jason
I know that families can be together forever. It is central to Heavenly Father's plan. It just doesn't make sense that God would send us here in families and command us to love and serve them, only to have those relationships end at death. If it were that way, would it follow the same pattern for our relationship with God and Jesus Christ at death? Would those relationships end? No. The love and trust that we build with our families will carry on with us as we pass to the next life. We will live with them forever if we are obedient to the Lord's commandments here in this life. I know that that is true, because I have witnessed and felt the power of God's teachings with my family. They have changed my life, and that of my family's.  Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Jason
The answer is quite simple. As one reads the scriptures, prays, and goes to church, they come to know who their Father in Heaven really is. For me, a lot of my learning has come as I took the time to kneel down at night and spend extra time praying to Him. A lot of times it was in search of a question or concern that I had, and as I took the time to pray and listen to Him, I came to know Him. In addition to that, I have sought His guidance through the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, searching for all of His attributes that I could find. I invite you to do the same, and I promise that you too will come to know Him. Show more Show less
