Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in Wyoming. I hope to become a doctor. I am a deep thinker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a wonderful family in Wyoming and am currently a student in college studying neuroscience. I hope to one day go on to medical school and become a doctor. Like most college students, my future is quite unknown, but I am loving life right now and am excited and optimistic about what lies ahead. I love life, learning, sports, and fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

The basic reasons that I am a Mormon is because I truly believe in it and I have found that it is what makes me and others the happiest. I have always been someone who really thinks about things, asks questions, and ponders. The fact that I am so inquisitive has caused me to take a serious look at my beliefs and ask questions like, "Is there a God? Who is God? What is God's plan? What is the purpose of life? Is this religion really true?" I have learned that learning things of this nature is much different than how I learn things in school. I recognized early on that I can't receive answers to these questions just directly from another person. In the scriptures we are taught to ask Heavenly Father and to seek answers from Him, and the scriptures teach that if we seek, we shall find. My questions drove me to accept God's invitation to seek these answers through prayer and study of His word. Through many personal and special experiences, I have received the answers to the questions in my heart. Through questioning, prayer, and study, I have gained a strong witness that God is our Heavenly Father, that He has a plan of happiness, and that the fulness of His teachings, or his gospel, can be found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through my own experience and observing others, I have also seen that living the way that Jesus Christ has taught is what leads to peace and happiness in life. I feel peace as I try my best to love God and others, and as I try to keep the commandments of God. I have learned that the commandments of God aren't just a list of restrictive do's and don'ts, but rather, they are instructions on how to live a full and happy life. My hope in the future and optimism towards life stems from the truths that I enjoy from being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to become like Jesus Christ. This involves studying His teachings, praying, attending church meetings, and just trying to be better every day. I also hope to uplift and brighten the lives of family, friends, and others by loving and serving them. The local church congregation that I am part of allows me to have opportunities to visit, teach, learn, and worship with others that are part of the congregation. I make mistakes and I'm not always the person that I want to be, but I live life with the assurance that Heavenly Father is loving, forgiving, and always wants to help me be better.
