Hi I'm Kira

I'm a wife, a college student and a hairstylist... and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Kira! I'm a wife, sister, daughter, friend, college student, and cosmetologist... and I'm a Mormon. I'm currently majoring in Marriage and Family Studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho. This is because family values are so important to me, and I cherish my relationship with my husband. We were married and sealed, not only for time, but for all eternity, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple (a House of the Lord) on April 15, 2011. I love to sing--whether in the shower to myself, in the car to the radio, or in church choir to the congregation! I'm also passionate about the piano and flute. Name anything creative, feminine, and artistic--and I'm there!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm the daughter of a Mormon convert. I am a Mormon, because like my mother, I have received countless confirmations of the truth. I know that Jesus Christ lives, and that He is my friend and my Redeemer. Anyone on Earth who prays to God the Father with a sincere heart can have that same, powerful witness. We are eternally indebted to our Father in Heaven. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, my dearest friend and Older Brother, to atone for our weaknesses and to experience our trials and temptations so that we can one day return to our Father, and become as He is one day. Our Savior is the reason for each breath we take. He suffered, bled, and died for each of us individually, because He knew we would mess up; but when we do make mistakes, He is there with open arms to heal and comfort us. 'I Stand All Amazed' is an LDS hymn that beautifully portrays the Savior's love for me. Some of my favorite lines are: 'I marvel that He would descend from His throne divine to rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine...I think of His hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt. Such mercy, such love and devotion, can I forget?... Oh it is wonderful that He should care for me enough to die for me. Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me.' He heals. His mercy is infinite. I have many shortcomings, but He is always there to catch me when I lose sight of who I am. I am His daughter, the Daughter of a King. I think if we all remembered our divine heritage, if we TRULY remembered who we are, we would have total charity, and a new hope for a better world. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I KNOW it. I know it because I, too, have had the same spiritual witnesses as Joseph Smith. I testify that there is a living prophet on this earth today, President Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides the true Church of Jesus Christ. The Lord wants to answer your prayers. He longs for you to talk with Him. He watches over you every day. I know that the Book of Mormon is God's word to us in these Latter-Days. I have found countless answers to my prayers through the messages of the ancient prophets. The answers are there, if you are only willing to seek them out. There are thousands of facts to logically back up the truth of the Book of Mormon, but only the Holy Ghost can instill the truthfulness of the message of Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in your heart. I am, and YOU are, because He is; never forget that.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is a perfect example of selfless service. True Christians are followers of Christ's example. To demonstrate my love for Christ, I try to find opportunities to serve those around me on a daily basis. We are all God's children with infinite potential and priceless souls. I help serve others in small ways by visiting the elderly, sharing spiritual messages with those around me, or by simply writing a note to someone who's having a difficult time.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Kira
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that a Temple is a house of God here on earth where we make sacred, binding covenants with our Lord. The Temple is a very special place where we can be united with our families forever. Because Christ has restored the priesthood (the authority to act in God's name) to Church leaders on the earth, it is possible for families to be eternal. I have been married and sealed through the power of God to my dear husband for time and all eternity. The temple teaches us the doctrines necessary for our salvation, and points to God and families. In the Temple we also have the opportunity to perform saving ordinances (such as baptism, the sealing of families, and others recorded in the Old Testament) for our loved ones who have passed on.
