Hi I'm Larry

I'm a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I am a retired accountant (CPA) married to a beautiful woman I met at a summer job in Disneyland in 1959. My wife and I have raised ten children who, with their spouses, have given us 39 grandchildren and one great-grandson. We love visiting them and having them visit us. I enjoy fashioning stained and varnished walking sticks or hiking staffs from local forest wood such as Eucalyptus, Rosewood and Alder. I try to spend time each week learning more about my English and German ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a university student when I first came into contact with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I chose to join the Church because everything I learned about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ resonated with my soul. I could almost remember being taught these lessons elsewhere in a place and time, it seemed, before I was born. I had been raised in a Christian home, but had not been taught that God was a personal, loving Heavenly Father who knew who I was and cared for me, answering my prayers and bringing peace to my soul and joy to my heart. I now know that God lives and that He loves each one of us. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored, in all its fullness, to the earth once more, through the prophet Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I try, every day, to live better than the day before. I try to be kinder and more patient. I try to live the way my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ would have me live. Because God has blessed me so, I try to give back to my family, my church and my community. I have served at various times on United Way and Boy Scout committees and councils. My wife and I recently returned from serving as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the past several years, we have labored in England, California and Washington. We have always felt it important to share the gospel's message of eternal happiness with as many as we can.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God the Eternal Father, and His Son Jesus Christ. We recognize Joseph Smith as a Prophet of God, through whom the church organized anciently by Jesus Christ during His ministry on earth was restored in these latter days. We also honor Joseph Smith as the translator (by the power of God) of the Book of Mormon, which we believe to be the word of God, along with the Bible. Show more Show less
