Hi I'm Susan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three young children and the wife of a scientist. We have lived far from family most of our marriage, but enjoy living in new places and getting to know different parts of the country. I stay at home with my three children. We have recently begun homeschooling. So far, I love it and the kids are much happier than they were in school. I love to sew, read, and travel. I am a musician and love performing and listening to music.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon church soon before I was born. That decision has blessed my life and the lives of my three siblings in ways I can't even describe or list. Their faithfulness and service gave me a solid foundation in the church which has carried me into my adulthood. I gained for myself a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through reading the scriptures and prayer. I am so thankful to have this truth and knowledge in my life and can't imagine facing the world today without it. My goal as a mother and wife, is to make my home a haven from the troubles of the world for my husband and children. I hope and work to pass on my strong faith in my Heavenly Father, and in His son, Jesus Christ and His church to my children. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can be perfected, so that I can return to live with Him and Heavenly Father. And because of the sealing power of the Priesthood in the temple, I can be with my family forever and find great joy in that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I and my family attend church weekly. My husband and I have been blessed with musical abilities, allowing us to serve our congregation through that blessing. We both play piano for the children's program, the youth program and the choir. My husband serves as the executive secretary to our Bishop, who is the head of our ward (congregation). I am also currently serving in the women's organization, the Relief Society. I also have the opportunity to visit a couple of sisters from our congregation in their home. My companion and I share a message, visit with the sister, and find ways in which we can serve her and her family. It is so much fun getting to know these wonderful ladies on a more personal level.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Susan
As a child, I knew my earthly father loved me very much. I was taught that Heavenly Father loves me too, even more than my own father did. It wasn't until I was a mother myself that I began to understand just how much my Heavenly must really love me. I have come to know through several ways. The foremost is through prayer. When I pray, not casually, but really open myself to the Spirit and open my heart to Him, that I have felt an overwhelming feeling of His love. Nothing in my life is too insignificant or beneath his notice. Another way I know my Heavenly Father loves me comes from the scriptures - the Bible to be exact. It's the story of Abraham and Issac. Abraham loved God so much, he was willing to sacrifice his only beloved, long-awaited son. Thankfully, Abraham didn't have to go through with it. But it made me think about my own children; how much I love them and all that I would do for them. And then I thought about how much Heavenly Father must love His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, and how much He truly must love me to allow His beloved son to be sacrificed that I might live with Him again. I know that He loves me and wants me to come home. I know because He has told me so through the Spirit. Show more Show less
