Hi I'm Tammy

I recently became a grandma. I love volunteering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 27 years and we have four children ranging in age from 9 to 23 years. Our two oldest are married and we have one grandchild and another on the way. I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked in that field until my husband finished his schooling. I have been happy to be a full-time wife, mother and homemaker since our second child was born. I love being able to volunteer at our kids’ schools, church and the community in general. Some of my hobbies and interests are early morning walks with friends, traveling with family, playing the piano, reading and crocheting.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Latter-day Saint family so I was raised going to church every Sunday and Primary or Young Women every week. Prayer was a daily part of our family life and I remember loving Mondays because that was Family Night! The teachings I was taught about a loving Heavenly Father who had a plan for me to learn and grow so that I could return and live with him made sense to me because I have a wonderful earthly father who has taken good care of me and wants the best for me. I was able to enjoy many experiences at home and at church that helped me feel the Spirit and they enabled me to know that what my parents and church leaders were teaching me and giving me an example of was true. I learned that while no one will have a trouble-free life, keeping Heavenly Father’s commandments can certainly free you from many of life’s challenges. These experiences brought peace and comfort to my heart and helped me gain a testimony of my own that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. My testimony helped me to make the individual choice to continue to live the standards I had been taught when I went away to college and be an active member of my student ward there. I have made mistakes and had challenges, but through it all I have come to know for myself that my Heavenly Father loves me and knows me and wants to help me. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ, atoned for my sins and can empathize with all of my heartaches. I know that the only way that I can hope to have real peace in this life and gain all that my Father hath in the next is to make and keep sacred covenants as I live the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I have had many different opportunities to serve in the church during my lifetime. They have helped my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel grow and provided opportunities to learn new talents and develop as a person. My ability to play the piano has come in handy many times, even as a young teenager. I loved working with the very young children in a nursery class. They amazed me by how much they grasped of what we taught them and I learned a lot from them about unconditional love and enjoying every moment. I had fun serving in the cub scouts with my son and learning how to channel the boys boundless energy. Teaching the Young Women helped me stretch because I felt like I had to work hard to keep up with their goodness. Currently I am serving in the women’s organization. In addition to enjoying the friendships I have made, this service is helping me develop leadership, organizational, teaching and interpersonal skills. I love helping and serving others because I know that I am also serving my Heavenly Father and helping his kingdom grow here on earth.
