Hi I'm Paul

I love languages. I love my family. I know God lives. I know Jesus is my Savior. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the LDS church, and I consider myself very blessed because of it. I was born in Salt Lake City, UT, but have since lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, California, Oklahoma, and Washington state. I went to high school in Clovis, CA for the first three years, and then my family moved to Muskogee, OK where I spent my senior year and then graduated class of 2000. I am currently a college student at Brigham Young University (BYU) studying Spanish, German, and Japanese and expect to graduate in April 2014, after which I plan to pursue a Master's in Spanish at BYU. I have always wanted to be a language teacher, but not just a Spanish teacher, but a teacher of multiple languages (like German, Japanese, and French in addition to Spanish). I still haven't decided what school level I want to teach (i.e. high school or college), but I look forward to whatever job my language skills direct me towards. I enjoy learning languages, playing video games and basketball, and watching anime (Japanese animation).

Why I am a Mormon

I am not simply a Mormon because I grew up in the church and all my family are also members of the church, but rather because I share a deep conviction of the truthfulness of the fullness of the everlasting gospel which has been brought back to the earth (after a long period of general apostasy) through the Prophet Joseph Smith, who, among many other things, was the instrument in the hands of God to translate the record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas known to us as The Book of Mormon, from which the term "Mormon" was derived. However, it must be clarified that the Book of Mormon is not simply a book; rather it is a sacred volume of scripture which, like all scripture, is "[another testament of Jesus Christ

How I live my faith

When I am home with my family, I attend the small but tight-knit singles branch which I have attended since 2006. When I am at college at BYU, I am an active participant in my singles ward, always singing in the ward choir every semester, doing home teaching, and fulfilling any calling I am asked to perform. I am currently the sacrament coordinator for my ward so I come early before our meetings start and make sure the bread and water are prepared for when the sacrament is administered. I also enjoy attending the temple every week to perform ordinances for those who deceased so that they too can have the opportunity to partake in all the covenants and ordinances that we as members of the church are privileged to receive. I also served a full-time mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where I taught the gospel in both English and Spanish.
