Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up Baptist but have been a Mormon for 35 years.

About Me

Hi, I'm a wife, mother, and grandmother. My family is the best part of my life.I am married to a wonderful man. We have 5 children , 4 grandchildren and a new granddaughter on the way. I face daily challenges as I have multiple sclerosis. Despite some physical limitations I have a very rich and full life. I love to cook and garden. Recently I've found talents in art and music. I sing in our choir. I've also begun to paint. The best part of my life is spending time together as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I found answers to questions that had plagued me all my life when I met the missionaries in college. Reading the Book of Mormon brings great joy to my life. I know my Savior knows me individually and loves me. I have challenges to help develop my strengths. Through my faith I feel a sense of peace and happiness that come from following the commandments of Jesus Christ. My goal is to live each day and become more like my Savior. I wish everyone could partake of His eternal peace and love.

How I live my faith

I participate in church activities to help grow my testimony. I have an assignment to visit certain women members and uplift them. I try to do this by finding out their trials and offering support. I take meals when they are sick. I babysit their children. Generally I try to follow the example Jesus gave us to help others. I also study the gospel. I am active in our choir. Music soothes the soul. I love to attend the temple and do proxy work for my ancestors. So I spend a lot of time researching my family geneology. I've served in many callings over my years of membership and all of them provide rich blessings.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

I believe that Christs's church should be as He established it. So when he set up His church in Jerusalem He called twelve apostles. When He restored the church through the prophet Joseph Smith, he again set up His church with twelve apostles. Apostles are special witnesses of Christ. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Tithing is a principle taught in the Old Testament. When you consider that everything we have belongs to God giving back only 10% seems more than fair. I have proved the statement in Malachi over and over. The Lord has "opened the windows of heaven and poured out many blessings" over the years as I have paid my tithing. Show more Show less
