Hi I'm Maureen

I'm a student, I love anatomy, I enjoy music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Junior in College. I grew up in Arizona in a family of 5 girls, no boys. I love hanging out with friends and family, learning about the human body and playing games. I'm majoring in Public Health, specifically Epidemiology. I served a mission in California, San Diego. I love singing and goofing around on the piano and I really enjoy playing soccer and ultimate frisbee.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. Although I knew a lot about it at a very young age, I realized that I had to find out for myself if it was something I really believed in. My first year of college was quite a challenge for me and my faith was tried. I prayed, read the scriptures, and attended church and any other church meetings I could to know for myself if it was true. It came gradually and slowly but now I can say that I Know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I had to find it out on my own as everyone else in the world has to. I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet, that he talked face to face with our Father in Heaven and His son Jesus Christ. I know he restored the gospel and now we have living prophets who teach us today. I know that the Scriptures he translated are true and are records of previous dispensations just as the Bible is and that is how we have the Book of Mormon today. (It's my favorite book!) I know that Heavenly Father loves All of us, no matter how poor, weak or lost we are. He loves us and that is why we have this church today, it is why we are given people who lead us back into His light and why we must return our love by being obedient to His commandments. I love this Gospel and I love the peace I feel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying, reading my scriptures daily, going to church each week, doing the best I can in the callings I receive and trying to come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to serve others and put them before myself. It isn't an easy task but I know that I will be happy if I can put the happiness of others ahead of my own. I recently served a mission in California where I was able to share the gospel with others around me. I decided to serve because I know how much this gospel means to Me and I want to share it with everyone else. The most applicable scripture is found in the Book of Mormon, in mosiah chapter 28 verse 3. Check it out!

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

President Thomas S. Monson is the Living prophet today. He speaks and acts under the Savior. Because he is another servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ, I know that everything we hear from our Prophet today is what Christ would have us know today. When President Monson became the Prophet I remember watching the General Conference (where the Prophet and apostles speak to us twice a year) when he was called. He told us that even though he was called to this position we needed to pray about it for ourselves to know if he really was the next Prophet. I loved that he asked us to "check" with Heavenly Father to know if this was right. I prayed about it and I know for Sure that he was called to be our Prophet at this time, to lead us even closer to Christ. Show more Show less
