Hi I'm Andrew

I am currently a student. I love the outdoors, fast cars, football and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student currently not sure where I want to go with my education, but I like learning new stuff. I have found that I like traveling. It's nice to see how diverse various areas of the earth are. I am a big supporter of military troops. I have a niece that is pretty funny and a joy to be around. I don't really like being the center of attention. I love a good drama or action movie that is well written and filmed. Probably my favorite outdoor activity would be snowboarding. I am a dog lover. As with many others, I come from a home of divorce.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church and never really had any reason to not believe. At some point in my teens I realized that I had never asked God if I was even doing the right thing. Being a kid and doing what your parents teach and want is good and all, but if I was going to continue with it I needed to know that it was right. I prayed and asked God, genuinely wanting to receive an answer. God answered me. It just felt right and good. I knew that what I had been raised to believe was right. I didn't, and still don't, know everything, but it was still right. I have served as a missionary for the church. During that time I learned to rely on God more intensely. I came to relate my experiences to those in the scriptures. I have had times before, during and after serving as a missionary when I have not been so dedicated to what I should be doing. Life has not always been fun, yet if I humble myself, ask for help from God, church leaders and turn to the scriptures, I always receive help. I know through the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ lives, that He is the Savior of me and you and everyone else that is, ever has been and ever will be on this earth. I also know that He has restored His church to the earth in our time through a prophet, Joseph Smith, as the church was in former times. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and truly testifies of Jesus Christ as a companion to the Bible. I know that you too can find these things out for yourself. Aside from all of these things, I like the wholesome teachings. I like that there is a bright light in a darkening world of declining values. Finally, I like all the smiling, happy people.

How I live my faith

I am a leader in the congregation that I am a member of. As such, I try to keep tabs of how people are doing and then I do what I can to be of help and comfort. I try to live the tenants of my faith by being kind and understanding of others. I suppose the biggest way I live my faith is by abstaining from videos, music, books, events, activities, places or other things that are unwholesome or questionable. I hope I can be an example to someone by doing these things.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Andrew
Our meetings are calm and quiet. We sing songs and listen to talks(sermons) and prayers given at the beginning and end of the meeting as well as over our sacrament in the middle of the meeting. We don't clap or stand or knell, just remain seated. The songs are accompanied with piano or organ and hymn books are provided. Visitors are always wanted and welcomed. You won't be singled out, but will probably have people introducing themselves and shaking your hand with a smile. If you are thinking about checking it out, please do. We also have classroom setting meetings for men, women, children and teens as well as sunday school. Show more Show less
