Hi I'm Lauren

I'm a college student who loves music, bike rides, ferris wheels, and spending time with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Lauren! I am from Utah and recently returned from serving a full-time LDS mission in Singapore and Malaysia. I am currently working on my undergrad in Therapeutic Recreation. I am so excited to graduate and start helping people live happier lives by teaching the importance of wholesome recreational activities. I love photography, alternative indie music, movie marathons, and Cafe Rio. Most importantly, I love my Savior Jesus Christ and His gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel whole and complete when I'm living the doctrines the LDS church teaches. I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the truth in its entirety. The Church has its basis on beautiful and true doctrines that make life endurable and happier. I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation and the knowledge I have that I can be with my family for eternity. I want nothing more than to spend forever with my family, and I am so happy I belong to a church that assures us that that is possible if we live good lives on earth. I'm grateful for the Atonement of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lived, died, and rose again so that we can return back to our Heavenly Father and am eternally grateful for that sacrifice. I am grateful for a modern day living prophet who speaks to us and is a mouthpiece for God. I am a Mormon because it brings me indescribable happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

I believe it's so important to actively live what we believe. It is never enough to just say we believe in something, but our lives truly need to reflect what is important to us. I have found that true happiness comes when we actively live the gospel each and every day of our lives. After finding my testimony, I've made an increased effort to do just that - really live the gospel. I recently returned from serving a full time mission in Singapore and Malaysia. During my time as a full-time missionary, I bore my testimony of the things I know to be true and promised happier lives to people who try to live it. I have seen the gospel change peoples lives when they truly lived what Jesus Christ taught. Now that I'm home, I live my faith through my calling in my ward. I spend my time ensuring that people feel loved, welcomed, and happy when they come to Church and continue coming and continue feeling the Spirit. I also am a visiting teacher to two lovely girls in my ward. This means I come meet with them once a month, visit, and share my testimony with them. I try to make myself available to them whenever they need me for help or support. The LDS church is a church of love, acceptance, and tolerance and it is a blessing to be able to try to follow our Savior's example and try to have that Christlike love for those around me.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a boy who, like many of us, had desires to know what was true. He believed in God and had strong desires to follow Him. At that time, there was great religious excitement and contradiction between the many churches. Joseph had questions in his heart that he could not find answers to, and so after reading a verse in the Bible (James 1:5), he decided to ask God, for he knew God would not lie to him. Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees and sincerely asked God what he was to do - what church should he follow? Which doctrines were right? After he asked those questions, his prayer was immediately answered by a loving Heavenly Father who did not want His children to be in darkness anymore. That day Joseph Smith was visited by Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was called to become a prophet and restore the simple truths that no longer were on the earth. Through Joseph Smith, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was restored, including all of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the authority to act in God's name. We believe that through Joseph Smith, even though he was an imperfect man just like the rest of us, Christ's church was brought back to the face of the earth. Today we are able to experience all of God's blessings through the church that carries His son's name. Show more Show less
