Hi I'm John

I've been married for 37 years, I have five children and nine perfect grandchildren! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the U.S. Navy when I was 22 years old and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea. When I got out of the navy I went to work for an electronics component manufacturer. I became a product engineer and coordinated the production between Taiwan and the U.S. facility. As more companies began outsourcing, the company went out of business so I returned to school and got my B.S. degree in Industrial Technology.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was 6 years old. When I was 14 years old I attended a church youth conference and received a strong witness that the church was true. That testimony was reaffirmed when I would read the Book of Mormon at night when I was aboard the ship during war time. Feeling closer to God was important to me because many of the sailors lived very different lifestyles from mine.

How I live my faith

I provide security for the high school youth at our church who come to a seminary class at 630 a.m. before they go to school. I also work with the 11 year old boy scouts. The best part of that is seeing their eyes light up about campfires and sharpening knives and learning how to use hatchets and axes safely! I also sing bass in the choir.
