Hi I'm Deidra

I am the wife of a PhD student. I find politics fascinating. I'm head-over-heels in love with my daughter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the wife of a PhD student, living far away from my family. I am a new mom. I enjoy gardening and canning the produce we get from our garden. I enjoy politics, playing (and winning) games, and stretching our meager resources.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have felt the blessings in my life that come from the teachings I have learned. I know when I obey the commandments our Heavenly Father has revealed through prophets I am blessed. Whenever I have questions about life, I can turn to relevant teachings from modern day prophets and apostles. I have felt the whisperings of the Holy Ghost that tell me this church is true and the doctrine is correct. I have felt a change in my life as I study the Book of Mormon. Personal blessings of temple service, temple marriage and fellowship in the gospel of Christ have come to me through this gospel. I love knowing my family can be together forever. With our daughter joining our family, my happiness in the blessing of temple sealings has increased. I love knowing our Father in Heaven loves us enough to lay forth a plan where we can be with our families throughout the eternities.

How I live my faith

At church I serve in the Young Women's program, working as an advisor to beautiful girls ages 16-18. I know I am happier as I live the precepts of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to share happiness with people I encounter, especially in the grocery store check-out line, in something as simple as a smile. I work hard to be a good citizen and involved in issues that are important to me. My husband and I make family time a priority, especially setting aside time on Monday nights for Family Home Evening. While we try to teach our daughter correct principles in everyday situations, it is a blessing to have that time designated for teaching, learning and sharing in the 'good word of God,' as well as uplifting hymns.
