Hi I'm Darrin Ivie

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life! Converted at age 19.

About Me

I am a husband and father. Jolene and I have 7 wonderful children (1girl, 6 boys) that we love dearly. We have been married for 25 years this year! The blessings of the gospel enrich our family daily. My favorite doctrine of the gospel is that families can be together forever.

Why I am a Mormon

While serving a mission in Peru I was able to see how the gospel can help me be a better person and watched literally hundreds of people improve their lives by abiding by true principles found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have read the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price many times and have found for myself, through the Spirit of the Lord that the doctrines taught by those called to serve as prophets are not only true but carry with them the principles of eternal happiness. Raising a family in the world today brings with it certain challenges. The gospel has proven most helpful to this father as we work to raise children who respect life and the life of others. We have found that the most simple things in life bring great joy, peace and happiness. Spending time together as a family searcing for ways to help others makes not only causes greater unity for us but allows for building relationships with those around us. The difficulties that seem to be part of life are much easier to work through knowing that this family will be together forever. Serving the people of Peru was a life changing experience. It was during this service that I was blessed daily with the Spirit of the Lord speaking to my heart of how important the gospel is and how important the Atonement of a perfect brother is to me and those I love. I have come to know that there are those in the world that are critical of what I believe, often finding what they see as "problems" with my belief system, yet as I hear the criticism I cannot deny the belief I have in my heart of what I know is true. The gospel is not so much an intellectual thing as it is a heart thing. It is my belief and have come to know in my heart that Heavenly Father is a real person as is His son and my brother Jesus Christ. I rely daily on the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Ghost for direction and confirmation of truth.

How I live my faith

Each day I begin my day by asking my Father in Heaven to allow me the blessing of doing what He would have me say and/or do. Though far from perfect I try hard to go about relieving others burdens and assisting in any way I can to make their lives more meaningful. My wife and family are at the center of my life. We spend a great deal of time together! Doing my best not to offend anyone, I have a strong belief in what I know to be true and do my best to share such to any and all who are interested in listening to the wonderful story of the restoration and the Atonement.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Darrin Ivie
The moment Jolene and I were married in the temple I had a confirmation in my heart that a perfectly knowing Father in Heaven endorsed our relationship for eternity. Though this doctrine sounds wonderful to anyone who loves their spouse and family, it is a true principle found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not only a feel good doctrine but it is the truth. It makes sense to me that we have a "Father" in heaven. Many belief systems refer to God as our "Father in Heaven", so it doesn't seem to be much of stretch to believe that if he is our Father and we are His children, the doctrine of eternal families is real.
