Hi I'm Elsa Mary

I love smiling, why do I smile? Because...I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 21 years old and currently fulfilling my childhood dream of serving a mission for the Lord! I am serving spanish speaking and love the latin culture! I feel so blessed to be able to take these 18 months and dedicate everything I have to the Lord. It's very hard at times but I have never been more blessed or felt more happiness before! Before my mission I was studying Social Work with an emphisis in crisis. I love my major, I love serving people. I was also working as a Kindergarden teacher at a private school. I love kids and so it was more fun than work! :D Some of my hobbies include Dancing, Scrapbooking, Cooking, Sewing, and Talking! :D I'm a very girly girl, my favorite color is pink and I love Disney Princesses! I come from a family of 8, I am the 4th of 6 kids. We are ever growing and now include 2 brother-in-laws, 2 nephews, and 2 nieces! I love being a Aunt!! My family loves spending time together, some of our favorite activities are those outdoors. We love boating, horseriding, snowmobling, camping, all and all we just love adventures! We aren't perfect and have our inperfections but at the end of the day we are always there for each other full of love!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was baptized at the age of 8. I don't think I ever fully realized the blessing of the gospel until I was about 18 though. Growing up we always went to church and did the things we were suppose to do, because it was how we were taught. To me it was habitory, something I just did but didn't really think about. Shortly after my High School graduation my life was turned upside down, through the decisions of another person I was deeply hurt and felt as though I had lost all purpose. The year after my graduation was extremely hard, I didn't want to wake up in the morning, I didn't want to exist, I in many ways blamed God for the things that had happened in my life. I had always been the happy person, but at this point felt as though I had lost any happiness I had. I didn't want people to ask questions so I always put a front on that I was okay, but inside I was torn to pieces. In the fall of 2008 I moved into an apartment with my best friend of 3 years at the time. She saw who I had turned into and took the time to help me. She didn't push me to do anything, just invited me to church with her, to read the scriptures with her, to pray with her, more than anything she invited me to trust my Heavenly Father again. She took the time to care and to love me. Through her I saw the love my Heavenly Father had for me. I learned of the Atoning power of the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I learned that it is not just for our sins but for our pains and sorrows as well. I was able to turn all I had to the Lord, in turn finding the happiness and joy that comes from our Savior. Today I am a very different person, trials still come, but now I know of the eternal perspective. I know of my Heavenly Father plans. Why am I a Mormon? Because I know that it is the one true church of God, the same church Christ established when He lived on the earth. It all started with a taking my broken heart to the Lord, He gave me the peace, joy, and happiness I so badly needed. We are all individual children of a loving Heavenly Father, He knows and cares for each one of us individually. We are never alone in this world. We have a purpose, We can experience peace and joy in this life.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission for the church. I have the divine calling of sharing the greatest blessing in my life with all of my Heavenly Brothers and Sisters.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Elsa Mary
*Everyday when I look out the window and see the beautiful earth, I am reminded of the presence of my Heavenly Father God. The creation of earth is one divine way we can see daily the presence of God. *The comfort and peace I feel when I pray. We have been given the gift to pray and have this communication with God. When I pray I find peace and comfort from the strains and pains of the world. How is it that I can search far and wide for years for peace, but the moment I kneel and pour out my heart to my Heavenly Father is where I find it? This is a clear sign to me that God is there, He knows us, He answers prays. *1 Nephi 120 in the Book of Mormon talks of Tender Mercies from God. Ever have those days where nothing is going right, you don't have enough time to do everything you need to do, you are stretched beyond your max then you receive a call from a friend, you notice spring is coming and your favorite flowers are in bloom, your car makes it that extra mile on the all but nothing gas... The list goes on and on of small but simple things that make all the difference on those ever so stressful days. These are the Lord's Tender Mercies, helping us make it through the days and find that peace and joy. Take a minute, stop, and look. Sometimes we have too dig deep, but look. Those small blessings you treasure everyday come from a Loving Heavenly Father. God is our Loving Heavenly Father.  Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Elsa Mary
Well this answer is quite simple, ask your Heavenly Father. As the creator of all, He is the truth of all. We are His children and as such He wants the best for us. He is always there we only need to go to Him, the manner is prayer. Read the Book of Mormon, Pray to know of the truthfulness. I promise you will recieve your answer. Show more Show less
