Hi I'm Jake

I'm an athelete, a missionary, and...a mormon

About Me

My Name is Jake Nelson, I am currently serving in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. I love sports, listening to music, reading, and laughing. before my mission I went to school in Southern California, and played baseball for Saddleback college.

Why I am a Mormon

This answer has changed many times for me. some points of my life I lived off my parents testimony, at other times I was a mormon because i loved that it seemed to be us against the world. As a missionary i loved finding all of the interesting facts throughout the scriptures that showed the divinity of the gospel. I feel like i always had a testimony of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and the church. But it hadnt sunk in very deep. I went through the book of mormon as a challenge my mission president gave to our mission and highlighted different things refering to Christ. I was looking to strengthen my testimony of the Savior, I not only obtained that but my testimony of the gospel was strengthened immensely. I remember bearing my testimony one day about the book of mormon, and I could feel it like nothing i had ever felt before. i felt like the first time i truly believed what i was saying. my testimony has taken me through all of the tough times of my mission and i know it will continue through my life, as i do all i can to repay the sacrifice made for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing the gospel. i do my best to live what i know and to share those things with anyone i can. I have always been willing to put myself on the line for the gospel but i have learned that the little day to day things are really what show your love for the savior.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Jake
I feel that many people refer to Mormons as a cult because of the fact that we listen to and follow the councels of a prophet. The reason we do so is because of the knowledge we have that he is himself recieving direction from God. Just as Adam's posterity learned of the gospel through him or the children of Israel followed Moses out of Egypt. today we recieve special guidance from the lord through his Prophet.
