Hi I'm Maria

I believe the meaning of life is found through pain and anchored in peace! I have Fibromyalgia, I am a Mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a "melting pot" city in Kentucky where I learned to love musical theatre, tomato gardens, and horse races! I really enjoyed long summers playing hide and seek in the neighborhood growing up but I also enjoyed getting out of my hometown and exploring life and myself when I did "grow up". :) As I explored, I went to college in three states over the course of 10 years studying Music Therapy and Nursing. I also worked in various health care institutions during that period and eventually worked my way up towards a promising and rewarding career in health care administration. Though I always seemed to enjoy the idea of exploring new things and meshing life ideas (ie: I love varied quilt patterns and had literally wallpapered my childhood room with magazine photos- both which I felt were symbols of the extremes I felt inside) I dreamed of settling down one day and finally feeling grounded. Today I am happily married (5 years) with two breathtakingly gorgeous children and finally feel I've found my ground. Though I'll admit that most days I'm tired and impatient, it's been in my time as a "stay-at-home-Mom" that I feel I have learned more about myself and found deeper happiness than I ever knew the 28 years of my life previous. I've been afforded the opportunity to stop constantly "exploring". I now know who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because, to put it simply, I have learned for myself that this is the Lord's church upon the earth today. I have felt that by His Spirit in a confirming peace and guiding blessing--- it has given me direction and joy by following this anchor. In my walk of life, I seen many "higher powers" or "anchors" that people have chosen to necessarily follow to give their lives meaning or direction. They have all given them good principles and have been important for their happiness, but they have not been complete, and they have not been the all that there is--- the greatest joy that there is to be found upon the earth. I have felt, and can bear witness to, the fullness of this Gospel, the restored Gospel- this Anchor of His Atonement in Jesus Christ and I have felt it in His temples, reading the Book of Mormon, listening to His Apostles and Prophets speak, or hearing of the First Vision of Joseph Smith. All of these things come together, and many more, make up the reasons as to why I am a Mormon and I why I know that it is has a very important message for you!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by waking up every day, taking a breath, and moving forward! I live my faith by having hope and an anchor, in Him- my Savior, that there is meaning and direction and purpose to my life! I live my faith by trying to extend myself outward to others- to live and serve at the table of the Lord and provide my heart and will to Him and towards His purpose for my life and knowing that by doing so, I can find the greatest and most ultimate happiness on this earth.
