Hi I'm Alyson

I love to waterski, read, & run and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mom of five amazing kids...my family is everything to me. I love gardening, waterskiing, running, being outside, camping, and escaping with a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and he knows us individually. He wants us to have joy and true happiness. I have always had the gospel in my life. As a teenager, I wanted to find out for myself if His church was true and not rely on my parent's testimonies anymore. Through prayer, studying the scriptures, and pondering, I was able to recieve my own witness that this is His only true church on the earth. Since then I have had many experiences which have tried my faith, but through these experiences I've come to know that the gospel is true and that our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ truly love us as individuals and want us to return to live with them in the next life. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the complete truth and I'm so grateful to be a member of his Church. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and I know it is true. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and was a prophet of God. I know that families can be together forever through the blessings of the temple, if we do what is right and follow His commandments. I'm so grateful for this knowledge and I hope this will help someone to come to know of these truths also.

How I live my faith

Each day I pray, I read my scriptures, I try to be a great mother and wife. My children and my husband are the center of my life. They sometimes try my patience, but they are teaching me to be a better person. I try to serve my family and those around me by simple things such as: a smile, a conversation, a note, a phone call, a cookie delivery or just helping when I see a need. I currently serve in my ward as the Bear Scouts Den Leader. I work with an amazing lady from another ward because our two wards are combined for scouts. The boys are great and it's been fun to see them progress & receive their scout awards. I also visit teach three awesome ladies in my neighborhood. Visiting teaching is when you and another woman (your partner) check on your friends at least once a month, see how they are doing, share a spiritual message, and just enjoy some much needed adult conversation! It is great to get to know new people that don't necessarily live right next door and I know I will always be friends with each of these amazing women. Through the church's women's organization I have met and made many wonderful, amazing, and faithful friends.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Alyson
A testimony is your inidividual knowledge of the Savior, his teachings, and the gospel. A testimony requires faith, hope, knowledge, and work. Just because I know the gospel is true, doesn't mean I've learned all that I can. This is why we go to church each week, study the scriptures regularly and pray often. Each of us has to continually work at our testimony and build upon it. Ultimately it is through the Holy Ghost or holy spirit that we gain our testimonies. The spirit touches our hearts and tells us these things are true, therefore it becomes knowledge. Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Alyson
Yes! Through the blessings of the temple, a husband and wife can be sealed for time here on earth and for eternity. Families are sealed through this sacred union and through righteous choices throughout our lives and fulfilling our temple covenants or promises, families can be together forever. This is our Heavenly Father's plan and he wants us all to return to him and to be together forever. Show more Show less
