Hi I'm Ross

I'm a husband, father of two boisterous sons, software developer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up and live in Cornwall with my wife and two young boys. I work as a computer programmer for a local software company having previously worked in the USA. It was while working in the US that I met my lovely wife. I live right next to the beach in one of the most beautiful areas in the country, but I probably don't take enough advantage of that. I do try to get some sea air and take in the scenery when I can.

Why I am a Mormon

After I graduated and after a few spur of the moment decisions, I found myself living 5000 miles from home and engaged to a pretty Mormon girl. Before we got married, her mother suggested that I might want to learn more about her faith so that I would know what was expected from a Church member. I felt that I would humour her and listen to the message but had no intention of joining. As far as I was concerned I had everything I wanted in life, including a hot fiancée, so why would I want religion to get on top of all of that? Anyway, the more I learned, the more my views quickly changed. I felt as if there were so many new opportunities open to me. While I had achieved many of my worldly goals, there was now an eternal plan for me. The more I learned about the atonement of Jesus Christ, the more I felt that His gospel was for me personally, as it is for everyone. While life inevitably has its ups and downs, with the faith that I have I know I can overcome any difficulties that come my way. That brings a great comfort and peace into my life. The faith I have helps me think outside of myself and allows me to concentrate on the things that matter most by showing love to my family and those around me.

How I live my faith

Most importantly, I live my faith my striving to be more Christlike. I try to keep my life focused on what matters most, especially my family and try to not let anything distract me from them. I am currently serving as the leader (Bishop) of a congregation in Cornwall. As a Bishop, I volunteer my time (Bishops get no financial reward for their service) by ministering to the people within our area and working with other leaders to run the programmes of the church. I enjoy that challenges this brings and my calling helps me be a better person by serving others.
