Hi I'm Shanna

I'm a mother. I'm a teacher. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to four children. I am a former science educator, but took several years away from teaching to spend with my family. I recently renewed my teaching certificate and am considering a return to high school teaching. I play the piano, organ, violin, and I love to sing. I also love to create things for my family and friends to enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I prayed about what to believe and how to live my life. I was raised to believe in God and in the LDS church, but during my late teen years I questioned what I believed in. Once I truly began seeking to know the truth, and reading the Book of Mormon with a desire to know if it was true, my prayers were answered with peace and confirmation to my heart. I continue to follow Jesus Christ's gospel because living according to His teachings brings me joy. My husband and I know that through the gospel we find guidance and direction in raising our children, and in making life decisions.

How I live my faith

About once a month I play the organ for congregational hymns. I most love the hymns that speak of Christ and our relationship to Him. I also play the piano for the children's meetings. Music elevates my soul. Through the gospel hymns I find truths spoken to my heart, peace spoken to my mind, and my soul strengthened with a desire to do and be more. I also taught a scripture study course to high school students every weekday before school. Last year we studied the Old Testament. My class was small, so we had ample opportunity to discuss and apply the teachings of Jehova (Jesus Christ) to our lives. My students and I learned how the Lord loves his children. He has a plan for us to return to live with Him forever. Recently I began planning weekday activities for girls ages 8-11. I hope to help them grow to be women of faith, confidence and love.
