Hi I'm Ben

I'm a husband, a father of 3, a businessman, an outdoorsman, and I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I spend most days in meetings with business leaders and executives, reviewing strategies, markets, and competition. I spend evenings and weekends mowing the grass, helping change diapers, washing dishes, teaching scouts how to build fires and tie knots, reading books to my children, kayaking with my family, camping, playing at the park, and possibly biking. Sometimes my house is a far cry from the organized desk you'll find at work: we can't find a pair of shoes or matching socks, the laundry is scattered for the second time, the toilet paper is unrolled on the floor, dinner is spread across the kitchen rather than eaten, and one of the children is certain they had a toy first or didn't get the bigger half of the banana.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to follow the Savior Jesus Christ because of the peace, joy, comfort, and guidance I feel as I learn about His life and apply His example in my own life. In my heart I have felt a sense of happiness when I have sought to be kind rather than sharp, helpful rather than critical, patient rather than angry, and of service rather than focused on being served. Each of these are principles I have learned and am learning through membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Life is challenging! Trying to keep up with work, school, and family relationships is consuming, but service to others has been the best medicine for my own trials. After a long day at the office I gain energy from teaching scouts how to camp and hike. I'm uplifted by the joy of my children running to hug me as I return home. I'm rejuvenated while trimming bushes, or cleaning a yard for a widow. I find inspiration in having a responsibility to serve in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whether it's teaching children on Sunday, leading a group of men in teaching them how to take care of those in their stewardship, or simply singing in the choir. I need the strength the Gospel of Jesus Christ provides, and that's why I'm a Mormon!
