Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, an Australian living in Adelaide, married to Julie.

About Me

I am a father of two grown up boys from my first marriage. I am a bicycle mechanic of 25 years experience and I try to ride my bike to work once or twice a week. I love to participate in social dancing (Colonial and Bush dancing) as a hobby, which I have now been doing for the last ten years. I am a Family History Consultant, along with my wife, in our ward. I very much enjoy completing the family history work for my deceased ancestors and the challenge of finding out about their lives. I also enjoy being able to teach other people about family history work and sharing the joy that they experience when finding their families gives me great pleasure.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our Heavenly Father loves all of His children and formulated a wonderful plan to enable all of us to have the opportunity to return to Heaven and live with Him through the eternities. Jesus Christ is the culmination of this plan with His wonderful atoning sacrifice for all of us on the cross at Calvary. If we are faithful to the commandments that we have been given and the covenants that we have made, repenting of our sins and enduring to the end, we have the hope of returning to Heaven. I testify that Joseph Smith is the Prophet of this dispensation, the fullness of times. I testify that the Book of Mormon is another testament to Jesus Christ and allows us to more fully comprehend and understand the writings of the prophets of old in the Bible. I testify that the Holy Spirit has confirmed to me the truth of the Book of Mormon, the fact of Joseph Smith being a prophet of the Lord, the fact of the restoration of Jesus's true Church upon the earth with the formation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the 6th April 1830.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be true to the commandments that we have been given from the Lord, our Heavenly Father, and his son, Jesus Christ. I am faithful to the Sabbath Day and use it to attend Church and work on my family history. As a Family History Consultant in my ward I enjoy the opportunities to teach other members about the use of New Family Search. I enjoy having the Missionaries visit in our home sharing a meal and a lesson with us. I enjoy participating in the programmes and activities organised by the Church. I enjoy the opportunities that we have in Adelaide to attend the Temple on a regular basis and further participate in the ordinances of the Church through our service in the Temple. I enjoy reading the Book of Mormon and studying the scriptures, with my wife, on a daily basis. I enjoy the opportunities that we have to pray together to strengthen our relationships and testimonies.
