Hi I'm Byron

I was raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, moved to Victoria, BC. I am a bagpiper and a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and the father of 8 children. I am now retired after a career of over 30 years with the Government of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. My wife Carey and I served a Humanitarian Mission in Yangon, Myanmar in 2011/2012 at a very interesting time. I am an avid bagpipe player and I play with the Victoria Police Pipe Band in Victoria, BC, Canada. My wife and I are also tennis players and she beats me regularly. We summer in Victoria, BC and winter in Mesa, Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

After a detailed study of other religions in my late teens and early twenties, I found the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided me with the most satisfactory answers to my questions concerning where we came from, why we are here on Earth and where we go after death. Over time I have developed a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. I am satisfied that it is an authentic record of an ancient people that lived on the American continents. I am satisfied that the book is what it purports to be - i.e. 'Another Testament of Jesus Christ' and a companion volume of scripture to the Bible. I have grown from wanting to believe, to believing, and finally to knowing that it is a true and authentic record of ancient prophets. I especially am thrilled to read and re-read of the visit of Jesus Christ to this the American continent. I could not deny the spiritual witness that I have received concerning its veracity.

How I live my faith

Both my wife and I have served in various community organizations as well as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have been involved in teaching the youth as well as those with special needs.
