Hi I'm Shelisa

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm originally from Northern California and have been attending BYU for the past three years, studying English. I love to read, bake and socialize with my friends. Currently I am a missionary for the LDS church, serving in New York. I love this gospel and am so excited to share with the people of New York how much God loves them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have been taught about the gospel since I was a little girl. Even though I have been learning about the gospel my whole life, there came a point in my life where I had to choose for myself whether the church was true or not, instead of relying on what my parents believed. This point came when I left for college and was living on my own. It was at that time that I could really stop participating in church activities and services if I felt that it was wrong because I had no one there to tell me to go. But from experiences I had in high school especially, I knew that my life was so much better when I was actively going to church and learning the different aspects of the gospel. I was a happier person and things went more smoothly in my life. I know that this church is the true church of Christ and it is a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I have participated in the church in many different ways. Right now, I am serving as a sister missionary. I am preaching the gospel in Spanish to the people in the New York New York North mission. I have the wonderful opportunity to go out and talk with people each day about the blessings God has given them. Besides serving a mission, one of my favorite ways to participate in the gospel is to visit one of the temples. Whether I go inside or just sit and ponder outside, the temple is such a beautiful and peaceful place and I love visiting when I'm able.
