Hi I'm Mark

I'm a real estate investor and a freedom lover! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a real estate investor. Working for myself has been really great! I love working once and then having cash flow continue basically forever. I am also a freedom lover! I am a big fan of the Framers of the Constitution and I love America. Reading is a hobby. Nothing gets me more excited than reading a book and learning something that I can apply in my life or business.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because I know it is true. I love being a Christian. I've thought long and hard about life and I've realized that either there is something more to life, meaning there is a Creator and an organized universe OR there is complete chance and chaos and no meaning for our existence. When I see the beauties of nature and when I feel in touch with myself, I know without doubt that God is real and does exist. I also know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. For me it happened when I was 19 and I was trying to figure out my life. My older brother is a Mormon and he gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon and told me that he had prayed about it and knew it was true. He got me to promise that I'd read it everyday and pray to ask God if it were true. It was hard for me. I didn't want to read the Book of Mormon because it had ancient language and took a lot of concentration. Over the course of about a month I started feeling a tangible peace and warmth in my soul every time I read the book. When I prayed to God about whether the book was true or not, I felt even more warmth from the Holy Spirit. Though this was a gradual process for me, I came to know through these feelings of the Holy Spirit that this church is absolutely true and inspired by God.

How I live my faith

I try to wake up in the morning and pray to God telling him that I am willing to be His servant and do whatever he wants me to do that day. I ask Him to inspire me and open my eyes to the needs of others. Doing this has made me so much happier. I have some responsibilities in my church. I visit some church members once a month and share gospel messages with them and see if we can help in any way. I feel a lot of meaning in this. Many times I have felt inspired to visit these people on certain random days and it turns out that they just went through a crisis and needed a blessing or emotional support. Having a responsibility to help others and having felt indispensable in their lives and like the Lord was guiding me has been very meaningful for me.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Mark
I think there is a lot of ignorance in the world and it is sad. I also think that it is human nature to deride or misunderstand those who are different than us. We've all heard snide remarks about people or races different than our own. This is immature and unintelligent. It puzzles me why some people call Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints a cult. One reason for this is that Satan is not happy with us and has always tried to misrepresent and persecute followers of Christ. It amazes me how there are many other Christian churches that are okay with co-existing with each other but when it comes to the Mormons, the attitude is that Mormons are bad. I think the world needs more of Christ's gospel of love and tolerance for differences in people. Show more Show less
