Hi I'm Paul

I'm a husband, a father, and a professor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, but spent much of my adult life in Southern California. I met my wife while I was working on a degree in Civil Engineering; she happened to be doing the same thing. We have four young children that keep us busy. I have always been interested in buildings and architecture. I work at a university, teaching and doing research in the field of structural engineering. When I'm not at work or playing with the family, I might be on the racquetball court or on the street training for a road race. I also like playing the piano; I started taking lessons as an adult.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon and was always fascinated by the sacrifices my parents and grandparents made for the church. As a teenager, I was curious to know what motivated them to give so much of themselves and their resources to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon and I found the source of their conviction. I came to believe two fundamental things: 1) Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is our only means of salvation, and 2) Jesus Christ restored His church to the earth in modern times, and it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

My faith impacts my personal, family and work life.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Paul
In the New Testament, Jesus promised his disciples that after he left them, they would be given the Holy Ghost to teach and comfort them in his absence John 14 26. Jesus called the Holy Ghost the Spirit of Truth. After I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I was given the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands Acts 815 -17. I believe this gift helps me to understand the scriptures as I read them. It also helps me to know what the Lord wants me to do with my life.    Show more Show less
