Hi I'm Meggen

I'm a Mormon!! And proud of it!

About Me

I grew up in Southern Alberta on an acreage, I am the youngest of 4 kids in my family. My Dad joined the church 6months before I was born after going through 3 sets of missionaries. I am currently am working at an accounting firm in Administration, and have been with them for almost 4 yrs. I loved growing up in the country and being outdoors. My family and I love camping and playing sports and just playing outside - going for walks, riding horses, quading, snow mobiling, etc. I still love playing sports, especially volleyball, I am involved in Beach league and love it!! I also enjoy travelling and getting to see different parts of the province, country, and world - I love creating memories that will last no matter where I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I choose to be, not because I was raised in it. I grew up with inactive family, and family of another faith, at times it was hard to understand different things and why we did certain things. But as I prayed, asked questions and listened to my parents and teachers I gained a knowledge of things, and my testimony strengthened because of it. I remember one time I was going through a rough time with things because of some friends I had. My Stake was putting on Moroni's Quest(Book of Mormon reinactment) that summer and I went because it was expected and it would be my last one - so I went with the wrong attitude. But as we trekked through the trail and stopped along the way to do reinactments and as I got more involved in the reinactments my attitude changed. I became eager for the next story and group discussion that I would have with my group for the week. Then on the Sunday the leaders reinacted Christ coming to the America's, and I couldn't help but feel joy, it overwhelmed me. It was a change of heart for me. He came around and showed us the wounds in His hands and it made me so sad because I realize how much He really did suffer for me! During that week is when my testimony was truely strengthened, and I was lifted up. And I knew I believed with all my heart that this is true, that He died for me and my sins. That He suffered for me, He restored the Gospel in full for me in the last days, that He loves me and knows me and that He called the President Thomas S. Monson to be our Prophet today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all the little every day things like praying, reading my scriptures, and by trying to be an good example to those I am around at church activities, work, everyday errands and doing little acts of service. By doing the little things I am not only strengthening myself but I have the opportunity to help someone have a better day. I like the saying - Most smiles are started by another smile. - and it's true smiling has the ripple effect, and it just makes you feel good to smile and brighten someone's day. Another way of living my faith is striving to become more Christ-like in my day to day life, does it mean that I always am Christ-like? No it just means I am trying to grow and learn from what I have been taught and from what I or others have experienced.
