Hi I'm Ben

I am a husband, a father, a teacher, and a scientist.

About Me

The top of my list of loves has to be my wife and children. They have given me the contentment in this life that I have always wanted. After my family and my faith, teaching comes next on the list of things I love to do. I teach high school students that are in need of extra help to succeed. Teaching ranks only slightly higher on my list of loves than science. I have the opportunity to teach in all four major areas of science (geology, physics, chemistry, and biology.) Science intrigues me so much because I have the opportunity to discover and understand God's creation. Whenever I dig into the side of a mountain or understand a little bit more about gravity I feel I have drawn closer to my Heavenly Father. I also love playing all kinds of sports. I enjoy discovering new sports and trying to understand all of the fine details within playing that sport. I have the most experience in throwing the javelin, discus, and shot-put. I have had the opportunity to coach young people in these sports and it is very rewarding. Finally I love to create. Playing music as a percussionist was my first outlet. Next I began to create furniture. Most recently I have discovered that I have an ability to draw.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a Mormon is fairly simple. I found all of the answers to my fears and I found the hope I needed to move out of darkness. I got to a very low place in my life and I was going to forsake religion. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and make sure I knew what I was choosing to leave behind. I had been raised as a Mormon but I had never read the Book of Mormon. So I read the Book of Mormon. During this time I was in constant prayer to know if the book was true. I received my answer very soon into the book but I knew I had to read all of it. As I completed the book I knew with all of my heart that the words in this book came from God. Soon after this affirmation I pleaded with God to help me be happy. In the Book of Mormon I found the answer I needed to overcome my darkness and the answer was to choose to turn to Christ and the Atonement. This was found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and nowhere else. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith the best I can. I am not perfect. I make mistakes every day, as a result I apologize and ask for forgiveness every day. Despite this I live my faith with joy and happiness. I do my best to stay close to God through prayer and scripture study. I serve others by attending to their needs. I teach other men and women and their families about religious principles. I do my best to be honest in all my dealings with those around me. I serve my wife and children and teach them all I learn about God and Jesus Christ. Most of all I try to spread the joy I have found through the Atonement with anyone I meet.
