Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Personal and Family Counselor.

About Me

As a counselor I love working with family relationships to help couples and other family members accomplish their goals to improve their relationships. I am blessed with a wonderful marriage and happy relationships with my four children. I hope to help others be happy in their relationships, too. I also enjoy woodworking, beekeeping, and gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

At age 14 I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and found it stirred up tender feelings for Jesus Christ in a way I had never experienced before. I continue to read the Book of Mormon daily because it helps me understand our Savior and His Gospel in a deeply personal way. I then try to live the kind of life He taught us to live. I make mistakes, but I keep trying. I am thankful to know that "it is by grace we are saved after all we can do." I know my Redeemer lives and that through him we will all be resurrected some day.

How I live my faith

I love to work at our church welfare farm. We have a farm where we all go out and prune in the winter and pick fruit in the summer. The fruit is then preserved and sent around the world as a part of the church humanitarian aid mission. I love being a small part of such a large effort. I also love participating in our local "Helping Hands" community service projects. But the most important way I live my faith is in building quality loving relationships one at a time.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

This is an interesting question for my career as a clinical counselor. I find that we act quite differently depending on how we dress. Our behavior comes from our thoughts about ourselves and about how we fit in. I act quite differently in the hardware store when I go in my tie and jacket on the way home from the office than in my muddy jeans. And I am treated differently too. The most important way parents teach their children is by example. They also teach by precept when they have trusting relationships. When we spend time to talk with our children while they are young, they are more likely to talk when they are older. We have to make what's important to them be important to us. Show more Show less
