Hi I'm Todd

I am a salesman and an avid sports fan that loves to coach Little League. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Live in Texas with my wife and 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls) ages 13 - 2 months. Our daily life is busy and to get the most out of life we are working on being better organized. The older two boys are active in Sports - Lacrosse, Baseball and football, scouting and other school activities. the 2 younger girls bring sweetness and creativity to our lives that is much needed to avoid being burned out with too many activities. I am blessed and would like to find ways to give back, even if at times it is just by doing the simple of things of doing what I know to be right.

Why I am a Mormon

I search for peace and search for how to find happiness that lasts. As I have continued to get older and move into middle age with a family of four kids my thoughts turn to how can I provide the best life for them and what will allow them to be successful. It isn't about always fitting in or making life easy, but I have found my greatest happiness comes by living simple commandments and not over complicating my life with many of the distractions that exist in our world today. I try and focus on the essentials of being good to my wife and kids and avoid making poor decisions that would harm what we have worked to build and continue to work towards (being together as a family in this life and after). The teachings of Jesus Christ and the leadership of a prophet today give me solace in a world that can be confusing. For me when life gets hectic, I often remind myself "keep it simple stupid"

How I live my faith

I work for a chemical company that requires me to travel frequently and our family time is even more important as some weeks time is limited. Our early morning routine revolves around reading scriptures, prayer and getting ready for school. Our focus is to prepare ourselves to meet life's challenges and try to smile at the same time. The best way I have found to be happy is to stay busy in a good cause and try to find a way to do something for someone else during the day. By serving others I can help reduce any selfish tendencies that can creep in and it helps me keep perspective on what this life is about.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Todd
No benefit comes to an able person to ask for a handout. The ability to work and produce is a God given attribute that can provide an individual with a sense of accomplishment and confidence. The talk of emergency preparedness comes from simple counsel to save for a rainy day. We live in society of consumption, that doesn't always include thinking about tomorrow, but as we have seen natural disaster and econmic turmoil the idea of being self reliant includes being able to provide for ourselves even when we experience difficult times.
