Hi I'm Jesse

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised just outside Santa Cruz, California in a family of 11 kids. I enjoy reading classic novels. One of my favorite books is “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley. I love the character that Shelley develops in Frankenstein’s monster. She creates a very real person who the reader feels deeply for. One of the reasons that I love to read classic novels is because of the moral principles that are taught in them. In Frankenstein it is apparent that choosing to do things that are immoral will inevitably cause sadness in the life of the chooser as well as those around them. I also enjoy adventures outside. My family enrolled me in Boy Scouts at a young age and I had many great experiences with this. I love hiking and camping with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints. My parents raised me teaching me to follow the principle of the church and as I have grown up I have come to know more and more that the things that they taught me are true. I can see that it is as I follow those principles. When I was seventeen years old, I wanted to know for sure that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that this is God's church. I said a prayer to myself where no one else was and sat in silence for a moment waiting for an answer. I felt a feeling of comfort and felt that my Father in Heaven knew me by name and that he loved me and all his children. I knew that is why he has his church on the Earth today and that this is his church. This expirience and the many others that I have had have helped me to know, more and more, that this is God's true church on the earth.

How I live my faith

My faith in Jesus Christ is not separate from my everyday life. I strive to make all my decisions based on what my Father in Heaven would have me do. I strive to obey God’s commandments, serve him, and make changes in my life that are not in harmony with his will. When we obey God, we show our love for him. God loves us. When we do what he asks us he gives us peace and an assurance that he cares about us. For these reasons, I strive to obey the commandments that God blesses us with. I love the scripture in Matthew 25:40 that states, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” If we want to serve God, we must serve his children. I strive to live by this principle; I look for ways to help those around me. I am not perfect at all times in what I do. God expects us to improve ourselves with the time we have been given on Earth. He sent his son Jesus Christ to provide a way for us to become clean from our sins. As I come to see what God wants me to do differently, I strive to make those changes.
