Hi I'm Kerry

I'm a Mormon. I retired from Corrections, but not from Christ

About Me

I am also on Linkedin I have my own sharpening business I have 3 children, who are all returned missionaries and married.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at the age of eight, and became converted fully over the years. As I served in the priesthood, and went on a 2 year mission, my testimony grew. As Jesus Christ did so much for each one of us, it is important to serve others, and our Heavenly Father to add to his glory, and try to pay back the debt we owe to Christ. My dad had a persistent friend who would invite him to Church every week, after he went a few times he was hooked. He and Mom were eventually sealed in the temple for time and eternity. My one sister & I were sealed to them as an eternal family. Once you realize that we can return to live with Heavenly Father, you will do whatever it takes to please Him and return to Him with honor.

How I live my faith

It is not just going to Church once a week that makes yo a Christian. Selfless service on a daily basis does. Currently we live with my Mom as caregivers, and I volunteer at least once a week at the Portland Temple as a handyman. I used to help out at the Logan, Jordan River and Oquirrh Mtn. temples.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

I have been a Bishop and in other leadership roles, and it seems like it would be robbing people to take money for serving and advising them. Christ did not charge for healing or raising from the dead. I feel that being a conduit for His will in advising and helping people requires little effort on my part to find out and carry out his will. Once you submit to His will, He makes any job easy thru His inspiration and guidance.  I count serving a privilege, and would not take money for raking leaves, shoveling someones snowy walk, fixing a widow's window, performing a marriage, etc. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We are here to gain a body and exercise agency, but it is important to provide a welding link between generations by doing Family History & temple work for our fore-bearers. We can use Family Search to aid in this. It is wonderful to contemplate the reception in "heaven" for us if we provide saving ordinances by proxy for our kindred dead. It is something they cannot do for themselves, having passed on. There is great joy in having the comfort that we can return to be with our families and our Heavenly Father if we are worthy.
