Hi I'm Spencer..

I grew up in Mississippi... I'm a social worker/therapist and...I'm a Mormon....

About Me

I grew up in Central Mississippi and currently reside in East Central Mississippi. I'm the 4th of 5 children. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in social work. I enjoy singing solo and in groups. I enjoy cooking and am told I do it well. I have two handsome sons and a beautiful wife.

Why I am a Mormon

It's interesting as I consider why I'm a Mormon. I'm a 5th generation Mississippi Mormon. I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was raised in a wonderful Mormon family who love the Lord Jesus Christ and His Gospel and I wanted to do the same. I have studied and attended several Christian and non-Christian denominations for years. I have learned a great deal from that study. However, the things that I have learned have helped me appreciate and draw closer to my Heavenly Father. I am a Mormon because, not only does it make so much sense, but it has truly blessed my life. I feel certain that this is my Heavenly Father's plan for His children. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and He wants us back. I know that He put together His church when He was on the earth and put it back together in our current era. I am extremely blessed to be a part of it. I am extremely blessed to have such a loving Savior who loves me in spite of me. So blessed!!!

How I live my faith

Almost every choice in my day is impacted by my faith. I have an intense desire to serve others and be involved in improving their lives. I am a social worker and enjoy being closely involved in touching the lives of God's children, even if it is just a little. I have served in many roles in the church as a lay leader for 20+ years. I currently serve as bishop of the Meridian, Mississippi Ward and I am excited to bless the lives of others through service. I think of something one of the presidents of the church said regarding the lives of members. He said, "I hope that the lives of our members can be the symbols of their faith..." That is my hope as well.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

One of the church presidents, Howard Hunter, once stated that we learn from Christ's life, that the things he touched were healed. Likewise, when Christ touches our families or our marriages, they can be healed if there has been hurt. They can also be further enhanced just by virtue of inviting Him to be a part...
