Hi I'm Trevor

I'm a husband, a dad, a student-historian of early America, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I just had our baby son. I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm currently going to school and working part time. I'm studying History. But what I love doing the most now days is spending time with my wife and son. I guess in my mind the idea of my family benefiting from living the gospel is becoming central to why I'm a Latter-Day Saint. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ! I was way happy to serve as a missionary in Mexico a little over a year and a half ago. I saw many people whose lives and families become happier as they lived Christ's teachings.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen a lot of good things during my time as a member of the church. All good things come from God, actually Jesus taught that a good tree cannot put out bad fruit and that a bad tree cannot put out good fruit. I have been encouraged many times by my church leaders to put my family first. I have been taught that the family is the most important thing on this earth, and that if I try to help and love my family, then I will be serving the Lord (Mosiah 2:17 in page 148 of the Book of Mormon) I also have felt something very special when I read the Book of Mormon. I think that when I read it I have more energy to do good things. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is good gave me a good base to be able to ask our Heavenly Father in prayer if it was true. I prayed and asked Him, and I felt peaceful and happy. Again I felt like I had more energy and motivation to do good things. And that is why I'm a member of the church, because the church is like a catalyst for me to be able to live a good life.

How I live my faith

One of the things that I love to do is to go to the temple. In the LDS church there is a difference between a church building and a temple. I hope that you have the chance to be able to enter both, they so peaceful! Every Sunday the church is open to everyone. You need to prepare yourself to go into the temple, but it’s worth it! because it’s the House of the Lord. Whenever I'm in the temple I feel like I don't have any concerns, and the more time I'm in one the cleaner and happier I feel. I also am finding more and more spiritual strength through prayer. I love being able to get down on my knees and just talk to Heavenly Father. I know that I've felt His influence while I pray. I feel good when I pray.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Trevor
A ward is a group of people who live in the same geographical area, and that attend church meetings at the same time on Sunday. Each ward is led by a bishop. A branch is the same as a ward, but with fewer people, and is led by a branch president. A stake is a larger geographical unit that is made up of various wards. A stake is led by a stake president. What is the Law of Chastity?

Trevor
The law of Chastity is one of God's laws that most helps us to have a happy family. To live the law of chastity we should not have sexual relations before being married. We should also have clean thoughts. Satan wants us to participate in pornography, but the Savior taught "suffer none of these things to enter into your heart." In whom should we have faith?

Trevor
We should have faith in Jesus Christ. To have faith means to trust; in order to trust someone, we must know them, and they must have gained our confidence. As followers of Christ, we know that He has gained our confidence because He loves us and never did anything bad. To be able to get to know him we should learn about him in the Scriptures, and we should pray. The most important thing that we can do to get to know and have faith in the Savior is to serve like other people like He did. Show more Show less
