Hi I'm Justin

I'm from Utah. I'm a dentist. You may have already guessed: I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I actually now call Denver, Colorado home. And I have lived for the past ten years in New York City and Texas in training. And, though I'm a dentist and also a physician, I'm more specifically an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. But I'm a Mormon, and have been my whole life. I'm married to my highschool sweetheart. We have four beautiful children. I love the church and couldn't imagine my life without it.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings of the church cultivate a spirituality that is very real. The more faithful I am to these teachings, the closer I am to God. I need that proximity for me and for my family.

How I live my faith

I participate in my local Mormon congregation as a family history consultant helping people search out their ancestry by "turning their hearts to their fathers [and mothers]" (Malachi 4:6). In the past I have participated by playing the organ for our Sunday meetings, working with the Boy Scouts, and participating with a group of men in scripture study and service. When I think of living my faith, I hope that my affiliation with the church has helped me be a better person to those of all faiths around me. Most of all, I hope I live my faith by raising my children to live close to the Savior Jesus Christ.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a code of health that deals with some "dos and don'ts" no to alcohol, coffee/tea, tobacco, or illicit drugs yes to healthy things like fruits, vegetables, and grains, as well as getting enough sleep and exercise.   Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

As a Mormon I donate 10 percent of my income to the church. It's called tithing and it's a sacrifice, but I see the good the church does, and I'm happy to give. Also, the church has no paid clergy--the congregation I attend is run strictly by volunteers. And it's this way world-wide. I can personally attest to the promise made to those who pay tithing found in the bible, Malachi chapter 3 verse 10, "prove me now herewith, saith the Lord . . . if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."  Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity is simply no sex before marriage and complete fidelity after marriage. I like what Gordon B. Hinckley, a former President of the church, said, "It brings peace to the heart, and peace to the home." I can personally attest to that.   Show more Show less
