Hi I'm Naomi

I'm a Polynesian dancing, marathon running, outdoor loving, mother of two, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and my wonderful parents. We are Japanese, Hawaiian, Native American, and Caucasian, and thus, we LOVE to party and we LOVE to eat! I am currently trying to teach those same qualities to my own children with the help of my amazing husband. However, when we're not partying with our families or enjoying great food together, we enjoy singing, dancing, hiking, and camping. When I am on my own I also love to sew, crochet, run, swim, bike, rock climb, write, create, and read. I consider myself a collector of hobbies. I love learning new things, although I am not the master of anything. If I could sum myself up in one sentence, I would have to say that I am a simple, easy going, and happy individual who loves my life!

Why I am a Mormon

There are hundreds of reasons why I chose, and continue to choose to live the life of a Mormon, but if I had to pick one, I would have to say it is because the Mormon religion brings me JOY! Living the life of a Mormon has taught me to be forgiving, self sufficient, service oriented, and strong. It has helped me to have a healthy body and a healthy self esteem. It has given me the opportunity to lift and help others in need. It has helped me to avoid heartache, failures, and pain. Being a Mormon has given me a home away from home, a family away from family. It has taken away my loneliness and depression and provided me with motivation, hope, and happiness. I am a Mormon because Mormonism has taught me how to love myself for who I am and to find joy in all I do. And isn't that what life is all about in the first place? Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have JOY!

How I live my faith

The Mormon religion is one that asks you to live your faith EVERY DAY! To some that might seem daunting, but I find that it keeps me on my toes and helps me to keep progressing in the right direction. I am able to live my faith daily by teaching my children the principles of my faith in my home. We are able to pray together, study the scriptures, attend Sunday meetings, and every Monday we take the phone off the hook, turn off the TV and computer, and just spend time together as a family. In the Mormon church I am also able to live my faith by serving. I recently had the chance to serve the youth. Every Sunday I was able to teach the 14 and 15 year old young women how to be strong, educated, loving, modest, and powerful women. It was one of the most rewarding things I've ever been asked to do. Currently I am serving as a ward missionary in my church. That means I get to help our church's full time missionaries with finding and teaching people who are interested in learning more about Mormons. I also enjoy friendships with the missionaries as I try to support them however they need, including feeding them lots of Hawaiian food when the need arises! :) During the month, I also get to visit other ladies of my faith, help them out if they need anything, and leave them with a happy and uplifting message. The Mormon church teaches us how to be self sufficient, serving, and active people. And that is why I love it! We are not asked simply to believe, but also, to DO!
