Hi I'm Wayne Stephens

I'm a Mormon. I was born a Navy baby, but immediately moved to Atlanta, Ga. for my lifetime adventure.

About Me

I grew up in the Atlanta area and have been here all my life & have worked in the Trucking Industry for 44 years now. I am a manager of accounts receviables and collections for a major Intermodal Trucking Company. My true love growing up was "baseball" & I got that from my grand-dad who loved baseball and was offered to play professional ball, but would not as he did not want to leave his family for so long at a time. I really appreciated that as I got older and had a family. My mom was my best supporter of baseball and got that from my grand-dad. I was also around music as my dad was a part time song writer while I was growing up & I had the opportunity to go to the recording studios and see artists record songs for records. I also taught myself how to play the guitar while growing up with some friends of mine, who played also. I am not great at it, but good enough to satisfy my own personal needs when I am by myself. It is a great stress reliever. I have been married to Sue Scott for 35 years and we have 5 children. We now have 10 grandchildren - 8 boys and 2 girls. I joined the LDS church in 1976 and I am still very active today and hope to always set that example to my own children and their children & who knows maybe even their children.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I attended church on a regular basis ( Baptist ) and participated in youth events regularly. Following good principles has always been important to me & at the age of 28 I began having a greater desire for good principles in my life & began attending the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, & from the first day I attended, I knew I was where the Lord wanted me to be. As the missionaries taught me the gospel principles the spirit so strongly let me know that the Church was true and that Joseph Smith was in deed a prophet of the Lord and was an instrument by which the true gospel was restored back to the earth, preparatory for the second coming of our savior, Jesus Christ. I have never doubted this for one moment since being Baptised in November of 1976. By finding the true Church I have had the opportunity to be sealed for all time and eternity to my wife and my children in a sacred place called the Holy Temple..This has made me a complete person. This has been necessary in the raising of 5 children and helping out with 10 grand-children, as there are always challenges to face on a daily basis & my testimony of the gospel always sees me thru.

How I live my faith

I believe if any person believes, they must first try and be the best example of what they believe in - In the church I have served as a leader in Young Mens - I have served as High Priest Group Leader - I have seved as a Bishop - I have served as a Ward Clerk . . Service is how we draw near to godliness and charity, as our Savior has asked of us. In the church we have a program called Home Teaching for the brethren & that is where 2 brethren team up and visit multiple families each month in the ward. Since the church is set up by geographical areas throughout the world, we are assigned a certain boundry to be ministers of the gospel...I try to be a faithful active home teacher and I feel that I have been a fairly good example to the Lord in this area. I try to do my best to help others in my neighborhood when there has been any kind of disaster or upevil or just trying to be aware if anyone around me has been sick or had a tragedy in their family. We have had good people to be there for us during crisis times & I know from experience just how much it means to have a friend. Our beliefs are revealed thru our daily actions.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Wayne Stephens
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith . . We know that the Lord had to have a way to restore truth and principles to the earth and that he was the Lord's instrument to bring this about - but we pray to Heavenly Father in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ & not Joseph Smith. This is no different than any other prophet that lived on the earth and any other time..We are thankful for them and their giving of their all for the purposes the Lord had for them.
