Hi I'm Doug Bassett

I grew up in sunny California, served my mission in England, and married my best friend for eternity. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband to a great mother, and father to 4 wonderful children who keep me active. I love cycling, hiking, staying fit, and spending time with my family. I am a college graduate with an accounting degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. My parents gre up in the church. My family have been Mormons from the mid 1800's. Though I grew up in the church, there came a time when I needed to find out for myself if this religion was true and correct. This time came while I was on my mission. We were teaching the Walsh family in England. They are an awesome family that came to find out for themselves that the Mormon church is the only true and living church on the face of the earth. I was teaching this to people who wanted to know, but I never took the time to find out myself. This was the time. I started asking my Heavenly Father if what I was teaching is true. Or if I was just wasting my time. After much pleading, over many days of praying, I received my answer. It was not this magical vision or thunderous experience. It came to me while I was teaching the Walsh's one evening. I knew that what I was teaching is true and no one from that day forth was going to take that feeling or testimony away from me. The Walsh's made life changing decisions to join the church. My companion and I were witnesses at there wedding. I love them and miss them dearly. I am a Mormon because it teaches morals and values that will assist my children when they grow up and go off on there own in this world we live in. I am a Mormon because I love my Savior, my family, and those I serve with in the church. I am a Mormon because I know that my Savior lives. I know that he loves me and all of his brothers and sisters. I know that he died for me and was resurrected so that I, and everyone else who has walked on this earth, can live with our Heavenly Father again. I know the Book of Mormon, Bible, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price to be the words of God. I know that Joseph Smith was, and continues to be, a prophet of God. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best I can be. I continuously work on living my life as the Savior would. He is my example. I live my faith by serving others through giving of my time, talents, and energies. I enjoy working with the youth of the church; building their testimonies, and preparing them for missions, marriage, and life. I live my faith by visiting members of the church who have been assigned to me. I love visiting my families and seeing how they are doing and what I can do to make their lives a little easier. I live my faith by being an honorable husband and father.
